Backing off from a course and not getting refund

Hi,
I joined a course and went there only for one class. In the first class, I realised that its all in german (my german is not very limited) and so felt out of place. So I told this to the teacher and she says she cannot give back the money(toal amount minus the class i attended). is this normal?

As I signed up for this class in the last min, I forgot to check about the language.

Where was the course? I backed out of a course a few years ago it was with the migros school, and they gave me my money back.

Re: Backing off from a course and not getting refund

did they have a customer satisfaction "guarantee" clause? If you are not satisfied with the level of teaching for example? could be another way to get some money back, but highly unlikely you'll get a full refund.

bad press is also another way to try to show them how un happy you are... tell them you'll tell all your friends not to use them ever ever again still may not work but it's fun...in a weird sadistic twisted way.

Why not use it as an opportunity to improve your German. I assume the language used to describe the exercises will be repetitive and it should be a great way to pick up vocabulary.

Cheers,
Nick

I did my pre-natal exercises in German; I just copied the others and pretended that I knew what I was doing!!!!!In the end, it was fun!

If the teacher or you found someone else to take your place you could get your money back then.. try advertising it in your local Migros or Co-op for the remaining lessons you might get lucky.
