Autumn leaves

hi there

This is a mundane question but it's been keeping me up at night. Hopefully someone may be able to help. I recently moved into a new house in Bergdietikon. The agent pointed out to me several times that it is my responsibility to clear all leaves from the front of the house. I did it the same day in case the neighbours think I'm a slob. I put the leaves in two dustbin bags but now I have no idea what to do with the bags. The gemeinde website talks about what to do with grungut but all I understand is that I can buy a special container and an annual tax disc for the container. I don't really want to do that as my house doesn't have its own garden to justify it. The rest of the website talks, I think, about bundles of grungut but I don't see how you bundle leaves. Lots of the words aren't in my dictionary either. Can anyone make any sense of it?

Other than that, I love life in Switzerland and have found everything else quite easy including registration.

Thanks for your help

Hi there,

on the website it says you can put your "Laub" = leaves into 110 lt paper sacks,in November that you can buy in the "Volg-Läden", together with a clearly seen Grüngutbändel. Then it will be picked up on the collection day.

Quote:

Laubabfuhr Laub in 110 L-Papiersäcken im November (erhätlich in den
Volg-Läden), versehen mit je 1 Grüngutbändel, bereitstellen.
Bei grösseren Laubmengen wenden Sie sich bitte direkt
an Herrn W. Schenkel, Tel. 044 740 89 63.
Glad your enjoying everything else here, just hope there aren't too many trees around you.

Happy rest of the Autumn,

Ros

Thanks for the info. Now I can get rid of the rotting bags out of my garage. Laub wasn't even in my dictionary. I think I'll have to get a better dictionary. The little one I have was a leaving gift from work so I was trying to use it to honour their memory. The dictionary also let me down with bändel. I guessed it meant bundle which was why I couldn't understand what to do with the leaves. I guess then it's a tax disc for the leaf bag.

Thanks again
Steven

Bändel is a Helvetism, we can't blame your former workmates for that one. :)
