Basler Zeitung English Corner

Hi,

It seems like the BaZ English Corner has been put out to grass since they updated the website.

I actually emailed the website editor's office about it and they confirmed that this was the case.

For those not in-the-know the English Corner had a variety of articles in English - some written by native English speakers (people like Roger Bonner); others just rather poor Babelfish-style translations of news articles originally appearing in German in the main paper. So the quality of writing did vary.

Anyway, I wonder if there is space for a website to collect English writing (articles and stories) by folks living in Switzerland? Much as I like the EF as a great resource, I am not sure it is the ideal setting for such material.

What do people think?

Cheers,
Nick

Interesting idea, Nick. I guess the blog feature on EF can partly do that, but maybe something extra might be a good idea. On Toytown there's a wiki where members can submit info about life in Germany, for example.
