Brilliant work David!
I prefer the first one, because the drop is both bigger and the reflection is sharper in the drop witch makes the photo more striking.

<images snipped for space> | | | | | Definitely the first one. Sharper and clearer. The second looks a little dark (although it could be my monitor).
I don't like the thick black frame you've added to them. It is too much in my opinion. Sometimes they can enhance a picture but I think it takes away from it in this case.
If you want to keep it, I'd suggest making it at least half the thickness.
Just my personal preference, you might love it | This user would like to thank el_nello for this useful post:

That said, I think the frames bring out these photos very well. Nobody's right and nobody's wrong with this kind of thing. I think if they were thinner it would look better.
I'm probably biased as I'm not a huge fan of pictures with borders although recently I've tried it with a couple of my own and have seen it can work well.
I don't suppose I'm in too much of a position to comment either having only posted a couple of photos on this thread, quite a while ago now
Anyway, David, really like the first photo, very nice indeed.

It's true....smaller border looks better. I didn't spend much time on it since my 1 year old was bouncing on the bed next to me...me trying to keep him from landing on my laptop.... :-D
Anyway, it's up there in the original post with thinner border.
Glad you like it.

Glad you like it. | | | | | I actually prefer the thicker border - and no I'm not just being awkward Kind of confirms it's purely depending on a persons individual taste | This user would like to thank Slaphead for this useful post:

A little bit of cheating... Photo taken in Colmar, France BUT with the Basel/Bern photography club!
I send it in to a Christmas-photo competition @ Iceland's biggest newsweb, and it got nominated as the photo of the day and therefore have a chance of winning the competition (1st prize - a CANON!! )
Once again, dear thanks to my NIKON maestros from this forum; Herr Arridge und Herr Slaphead for teaching me all the babysteps of photography Love you guys! Peace! | The following 3 users would like to thank Begga for this useful post:
