Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

What a silly place to build a restaurant. In the Alpstein Appenzellerland, the Aescher...

Anyway to post a photo direct from an iPhone?
Don't think so. You can email photos from the iPhone, there are Facebook interfaces, but no internet forum interfaces to the best of my knowledge.

I don't think it is a silly place to build. Fantastic if you have been hiking for a while and fancy a nice meal instead of your packed lunch.

I guess that the views from there must be pretty spectacular as well.

Yeah and if the food is really good it will make a good incentive to go hiking. LOL! Then you don't feel guilty enjoying the food and you get to burn it all off going back down LOL! Kill 2 birds with one stone.

That restaurant is chock-a-block full on sunny summer days. You may have to wait up to half an hour to get a seat. and that in a place that is more than two hours away from the next road.

Granted, there is the possibility to tackle the route the other way round, taking the cable car to Ebenalp and walking down to the restaurant, but I've never met anybody who does that. It's the hike, the second half of it on a very narrow and winding trail on a steep slope, that provides the fun, which is topped off with a nice cold drink under the cliff before strolling through the cool Wildkirchli cave up to the top station of the cable car that takes you back to the valley.

Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

Yesterday we snowshoed from Stein to Arvenbuhl. It was crazy foggy for most of it - we were lucky that we found some kind older folk who had done it before and knew how to find the trailhead.

Weather got good by the end! We stopped for drinks at Vorder Hoehi, which surprisingly wasn't heated - it was a barn converted in winter with some tables to a mini beer hall. better than nothing.

Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

I'd just like to take the opportunity to remind those that who are feeling depressed with the sub zero temperatures and constant dull grey sky that chilling by the river late into the evening basking in a gloriously warm sunset is only a mere 4 months away

Taken at the Letten Bar last summer (or maybe the summer before - can't remember)

i took so many photos from the fasching today but i remember this one distinctly...i was taking photos where many children were standing, and this little girl got so excited to meet one of the paraders.
