Hi!
My name is Etienne Botes and this is a nice thread- maybe it should become a sticky?
I do HDR photography - High Dynamic Range. These pictures may seem very "manipulated" but in fact the idea is to present a picture in the way the eye will actually see it in real life. It is not too difficult to do with a normal camera -if there is enough interest I will post some links.
The first three are from St. Prex, the fourth, my favourite is Nyon station. HDR is really good at capturing perspective and sunsets. The last picture is interesting among Tintin enthusiasts. It is Prof. Topolino's house in Nyon from the "Calculus Affair" - the one that blew up!

And here are some summer pictures in and around St. Prex...and one recently of snow above Vevey.
Hope you enjoy! |

These are extreme.
Does nothing for me.
Either way, welcome to EF!

Thanks! Don't worry I can see in your eye you're not normal.
The picture is a composition of three exposures: very light, very dark and normal. Three picrues are needed to make one picture. This is similar to how our eyes and brain process and experience the picture. It is also why people often complain when they take a picture of a beautiful sunset; "aaah, it was so much better in real life."

Thanks, I am very familiar with HDR, as with some here...
Do a search and you will see it is a widely discussed topic in several

I also like the HDR effect. However, if those pictures are the way that you actually see it in real life then I must be either colorblind or the acid that I am taking is too weak.

It does seem to produce some great sunset photos. I posted some on here when the albums were up and running. I will try to find one or two again.

Those pics in HDR look like paintings to me. Very interesting...
Just by watching all the pics, I have one comment: CH is a very beautiful country. Lots to see, lots to explore.
