Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

Some pretty amazing pics here
I just took this pic tonight, it's not great I know... I really gotta polish up on my skills. I just bought my DSLR before moving here, cause I knew I'd have to take up a new hobby since I don't know anyone

Hi,everyone,

Here is the last of my pictures..........of my tour of Switzerland.

The falls in the fairytale land

The neighbourhood of the falls.

In the vicinity of the falls.

The bridge before the falls starts.

Close to the falls.

Ok,real close to the falls !!!

That ends my collection of photos to share from the CH.
Dammit I miss that place so much.I hope I end up there soon.

Thanks for the great sets of pictures with the comments to bring them to life. Your comments are similar to my feelings after my first visit. Hope you get the chance to get back. I am still hoping that I may move there one day

Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

Don't have any pics to share, but would like some advice from you photo types; I been thinking of picking up a digital SLR, but am completely clueless on the recommended brands at the moment. So what would be a good entry-level model up to 600.-? Would be nice to take some photos I can print up and siplay, so probaly looking at a relatively high resolution (or not?).
Cheers

Choose Nikon or Canon and get a kit that has a decent lens and an entry-level body. You can always upgrade your body later if you feel the need and the lenses can be used on the new body. I like Nikon (for no reason other than that's what my wife had and we can share lenses). This one looks like a good option: Nikon D3100, 14 MPixel, SLR, Full-HD Movies, 18-55 VR Kit for 635 CHF at digitec.ch.

Nikon D3100 with kit lens fits your needs perfectly

I would only get Nikon or Canon as that allows you to relatively easily upgrade or borrow things from a friend or a shop.

Nikon or Canon...I'm more of a Canon fan, but both brands are equally good.

Well the two brands that rule the roost at the moment are Nikon and Canon. Both have very good entry level DSLRs and in terms of functionality and quality there's not much between them. That's not to say the other brands are bad, as in reality there's no bad DSLRs on the market at the moment, it's just that for lenses and accessories you can't beat the range that Nikon and Canon have.

Don't be taken with megapixels. 8MP would be good enough for virtually all work (although these days the lowest you'll find is around 12MP), also consider the fact that the kit lenses that you get with the camera are arguably not able to resolve to the 16 - 18 megapixel sensors you'll find these days, so you may find that you're pushing around pixels that have no bearing on the final quality of the photo.

I can speak from the Nikon side of things and say that the Nikon D3100 looks on paper to be a very good entry level camera. Digitec are doing it for 635 including the 18-55mm kit lens, so a touch above your budget, but not by much. You may want to consider the Canon 1000D (100 less than your budget) and the Canon 500D (100 more than your budget) as well.

La Rèche between St-Luc and Chandolin in the Val d'Anniviers

On the walk between Chandolin and St-Luc suddenly appear these fantastic 4000m peaks (Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, Obergabelhorn, Matterhorn and Dent Blanche) calle "The Imperial Crown"
