I went for a short hike on Rigiblick, Zurich...
taking the tram no:6 on the zoo direction, get off at the zoo, and follow the signboard.... at the end of the trail, you can then take the Seilbahn down to the city....

Nice place... easy walk... refreshing.

Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

Just noticed this thread (don't know how I missed it before now!), and wanted to mention that a magazine I write for (Swiss News) usually has monthly photo contests. If they choose your pic, you get SFr 50.

There are lots of great photos on here, so you should consider submitting them - info at swissnews . ch

Happy shooting!

(The attached pics are of a rusted barn door hinge ... and a tree at the Chateau de Chillon.)

Re: Post Your Photos From Switzerland!

Thanks for the info - only one thing - I see no information about the contest on the website and also no details about usage rights - i.e. if we send our photo how exactly are they then licenses or by default given permission to use it?

This is quite important as you can't believe how open some of the contests are - basically by entering some contests you could be signing away all rights to your photo or won't be able to use it in another publication etc etc.

I know it sounds a little anal but it's kinda important as you really do want to know what happens to your photo before you start noticing that it's been "sold" on and they're making money off you etc...

That said if there are some simple detials I'd be happy to enter

Hi Jase, you don't sound anal at all. It's better to ask first and avoid regrets later.

Perhaps "contest" made it sound more technical than it is.

To quote from the last page of the magazine "Express Yourself – Send your favourite story about, or picture of, Switzerland to info at swissnews . ch. If we publish it, you'll receive SFr 50."

What the editor told me in the past was that they like to run an interactive "photo of the month" page when they have space and submissions. They choose from what they have and run it, along with a short paragraph describing the photo. And the photographer gets a cheque and a few copies.

My articles remain my property once they have been run, but I don't know if the same is true of photos. However, I am sure you can ask. They are pretty open, and easy-going.
