English language films in Lugano?

Hi

Over the Christmas holidays my daughter and I really fancied going to see a film, but when we went to the Cinestar Cinema all the films were in Italian. Is there another cinema which shows films either in English/French or even with subtitles in English/French?

Happy New Year to everyone.

Re: English language films in Lugano?

For starters bookmark this page:
http://www.tio.ch/aa_sezioni/aa_indi...p?idsezione=10

Then:

Cinema Lux in Massagno (up the hill behind and to the right of the train station) often has original language flicks. They show plenty if not most of the artsy / ethnic / alternative films.

Cinema Corso, the one in town on the main avenue that brings to the entrance of the above ground carpark every now and then runs some "foreign language" films too.

G'luck!

Paul

Thanks Paul.

We're off to the Lux cinema this afternoon to see what's on.

Just reading this thread 2 years on.... any update on english language films? Im desperate to go and see the Kings Speech but cant find anywhere that hints at it being in the versione originale!!!

Someone mentioned cinestar - does this place do english movies? Ive tried looking on the website but couldnt find any indication

id appreciate pointing in the right direction, or being told to wait for it on dvd

Bookmark this link for the local moviehouses...:

But if you want to get your fix I'm afraid you'll have to travel to Luzern or Züri :-/
Which can also be a great occasion to meet some other cinephile Ef-fers

Ciao

Paul

Re: English language films in Lugano?

There are also some theatres in Milano that show movies in the original language: http://www.milanostyle.com/php/article.php?id_art=10

Cinema Mexico -- http://www.cinemamexico.it/ -- is showing The King's Speech on Feb 24.

Hmmm....not so really. There are some that will eventually show in the original version, but at odd hours (i.e. 6pm) + there is the English Film Club.
But I agree...you can't expect to see all the major releases in OV.

Can you not download them from these services such as Netflix....?
