Hi Everyone,

I recently met my new neighbor who also happens to be an American. He came over this past weekend to watch the NFL matches (I have NASN) and we joked that it would be fun to have a Super Bowl party here in Basel. I wanted to gauge interest in joining our little party. Kickoff would be at 00:30, but I figure we can get together around 9PM for dinner/drinks (I plan on taking Monday morning off from work to recover!). The game will be played on Sunday Feb 1. I'd be happy to host (I live in Gundeli). So... any interest out there? If so, I'll create a formal Social Event in the right forum.

Sounds like a great idea...I still can't believe the Arizona Cardinals, the team I have been supporting for their twenty years in the desert are actually in the Superbowl. Put my name on the interested list (the only thing holding me back would be the distance to your place). How far are you from the Basel HB? My problem would be getting back home to Baden I would think.

Oh, Tony, we would love to come but we are all the way in Morges in a hotel. Does anyone know if there is anywhere in Morges or Lausanne or thereabouts that will have the game on? If not, we will be in the bar of the hotel in Morges watching the game on my husband's laptop via our Sling Box. You are all welcome to join us, just look for a big, goofy American guy wearing gold and black and yelling in English at his laptop.

You should also be able to watch the Superbowl on standard cable TV because the Austrian channel ORF-1 should be showing it. The main broadcast is in German, but there is a second audio stream broadcast with the US commentary; you just need to find the setting on the TV to switch the sound channel, it is called bi-canal in these parts I believe. The only difference will then be that you do not get the special US commercials, which can be quite entertaining.

You are welcome to crash in my apartment, as I would imagine you would have a tough time getting back to Baden at 4AM! I'll let you know if I'll be organizing this later this week or this weekend.

Hello. I am in Zofingen, about 45 min by train to Basel. Are you close to the train station? I have to work in Zurich the following day at noon. I would love to come, although I would have the same tranportation problem on the way back after the game. I am a Eagles and Charges fan...although both teams disappointed this year. Hmm..can we get wings anywhere for the game? I could make some appetizer as well, if it wasn't too hard to bring by train. Let me know if you organize something

Isn't the super bowl this sunday, the 6th Feb Also it will be on at 6:30 US time so would be after midnight here in Basel...

The Super Bowl is, in fact, on at 12:30AM here on Sunday evening (Monday morning). For those of you in Basel, I will be watching it at Mr. Pickwicks (just confirmed today that they will be showing it, and will also have their kitchen open late). Let me know if you plan on joining me.
