Hibernation

Anyone else just feel like cuddling up on the sofa and not doing much? I know it's the worst thing you can do but I really have to kick my bum to get myself out of the house at the moment.
I don't feel miserable, just cozy and happy to have a nice warm home with loads of things I can do and a well equipped kitchen to cook all that Mum food from my childhood. I know I'll regret it when Spring arrives but..................

I had that really badly in the two months before Christmas.

Once I'd finished work, all I wanted to do was go home, have a cup of tea, stuff myself with food and waste time on the internet, read a book or watch the telly. Some evenings, I wouldn't even want to pick up the phone when it rang.

For some reason, though, in the last couple of weeks my body seems to think its spring, and I've started going out again, which has been nice.

Except it's not spring: It's still bloody cold, and I really ought to stay indoors!

Re: Hibernation

I felt like hibernating all December and the Christmas holiday was spent exactly as you have described Oldhand.. now, I just want to shake the winter off but know it's a wee bit too soon..

Re: Hibernation

I really enjoy those rare days that I don't have to leave the house at all. It is lovely to stay at home in the warm in Winter, and as it is only the end of January we have got a way to go until Spring arrives, so I think I'll make some steamed syrup puddings tomorrow to really get the most out of this cold weather and the perfect excuse to eat steamed puds.

Well for the last few weeks i have had no option but to stay home and cuddle up on the sofa, or bed with the kids, i have had to cancel so many appointments, massages, nail, hair (so to be honest unless i go out in a binbag covering me from top to toe i don`t want to go out). I just can`t wait until this cold winter is over and things can get back to normal.

btw when we are all well i do love to cuddle up on the sofa with a hot drink and watch the snow fall outside

Re: Hibernation

I loved the rain yesterday - it's over 40 degrees in Sydney this week - very very hot...I don't think I'll ever get sick of the rain...although it was doubly-nice to phone the kids school and get them to go home with their dad so I didn't have to go out...

Re: Hibernation

I often get the Winter yin at this time of year. Us humans might not hibernate but I think it does us good to slow down, even if it's only for a week or two.....kinda part of the natural order. Funnily enough it was mentioned on QI last night that French peasants used to kind of hibernate in Winter. Actually sleep a lot and slow down their metabolic rate. I googled it and found that Russian peasants used to do the same. Any road, it won't last long - a few more weeks and the sap will start to rise again!! Enjoy it while you can I say.
