Did you check the contents for retin A , that can take a while to take effect too. Think on the bright side, you are getting a facial peel- women can pay big bucks for that! Just look after that new baby skin.

Well, yes and no. For most things, yes. Lard is brilliant for tapping holes (hint, mix it with just a bit of graphite for better lubricity) but it does go rancid after a while. I'd never put tools away with lard on them.
Vaseline's probably better for long-term storage and rust prevention - but if you're using yours frequently that shouldn't be a concern, should it?
I think that DB is begging for a make-over, I am sure that he would love it if all the EF foum ladies wereto get together and give him one. Since he has a liking for lard then maybe start with that for his flaky skin, graphite sound like a good idea. Any other suggestions a full body wax perhaps?

Umm... I had a read through the list of ingredients - wish I hadn't, as I'm feeling slightly ill now.

But no retin A that I could find. Anyone else wanting more info, here is the list of ingredients: http://answers.sephora.com/answers/8.../questions.htm

I think that most women have their plucking, waxing, shaving, depilatory cream nightmares.

Re: What face gels/cosmetics/toiletries do you use?

I used collagen line by QMS Dr. Shulte that is sold by Vanity salon and my skin has never felt more hydrated.

I also tried La Prairie marine cream and it was fantastic!!! Too expensive, but was really amazing.

Re: What face gels/cosmetics/toiletries do you use?

For facial skincare I use Garnier Nutritionist.I tend to have problem skin and have tried the more expensive products like Lauder,Clinique,Clarins etc , but got the best results from "my" Garnier.I do not have a specific foundation I swear by , but for mascara etc I stick to Essence products. They are very cheap and can be bought from Migros or Manor.
I dont know how old you are , but the Essence products also go well for the "older" generation. (Am 33).
Otherwise the Maybeline Jade products are also worth a shot.

The way Essence markets itself, I mean that rack that displays Essence products is so full of pink, and looks so girly, that I get the feeling it wouldnt really do me any good
Have only tried their french manicure kit. It was ok..am not really into nail enamels so cant say much, but found its tip to be too thick. So I used one of the old eye liner brushes to make the white tip. Other than that, cant really comment. But yeah, they are about the cheapest range of cosmetics I've seen here!

Re: What face gels/cosmetics/toiletries do you use?

Nuxe products are available in Germany (on line) for a fraction of their Swiss price!!
I've trawled through the threads on duty and postage, but haven't found anything really helpful about cosmetics ordered from abroad - just CDs, books.
Anyone done this recently? (They would be delivered by DHL)

Not from Germany, but I have ordered from Amazon uk, and there werent any duties I had to pay. There is a youtube user who lives in Bern, and does makeup videos - I often hear her telling that she got stuff shipped from the US etc - maybe be worth checking from her. Here is the link

But I doubt there is any duty on cosmetics. Do let us also know if its otherwise. And also where you get it shipped from

Has anyone ever used a body mask which they were happy with?

I am really interested in these types of products.

Thanks.

Re: What face gels/cosmetics/toiletries do you use?

For sun block I am a huge fan of the Swiss product Daylong. It's light and non-greasy and you only have to put it on once a day. I know that there are some reports against this type of sun block but after having read up on the issue, I have decided that for me and my family, the benefits outweighs the possible negative sides. I discussed the issue with my dermatologist the other day and he confirmed this view.

As for make-up:

I use Estee Lauders Double Wear powder foundation with SPF 15 right now and am very happy with it.

The best serum I've found is Juvenas Juvedical Renewing Serum but it is very, very expensive so I have gone away from it for now. Boots Nr7 is not a bad alternative, unfortunatelly you can't find it any more in Switzerland. L'Oreal Derma Genesis is the one I am trying out now. Not sure yet if I like it or not.

For body moisturising I like Almond oil and Weleda Calendula Body & Hair Shampoo.

For the hair: I have totaly gone away from silicones and I notice a substantial difference on my hair! Much less ichy scalp and much less friss. Unfortunatelly it is becomming very difficult to find non-silicone products. Any tips on non-silicone hair-products would be most welcome. Currently I use a couple of products from Migros but I would like to find some products that you can find outside of Switzerland as well.

I'm with the suncream camp - prevention is better than cure.

I found that the Ambre Solaire range seems to sit best under make up and use that in summer instead of a day moisturiser. Make up always comes off at night and a slap of night cream after a splash of tepid water.

I have to use a sensitive, non-flaky set of eye make up otherwise my eyes permanently have the "hang-over look".

Anyway, it works for me - I'm still gorgeous.

Re: What face gels/cosmetics/toiletries do you use?

i don't really use too much in terms of cosmetics, but i am a products buff. i like to try almost everything but i found an all-natural brand that i pick up in ny called my'chelle (not sure about the spelling) that i love so much! i make alot of products (exfoliant, cleanser, toner, etc) on my own- believe it or not it's easy to do and i think they work much better than most products i've spent alot of money on.

I'd love to see a few recipes of things you make. I know stuff like sugar is good for exfoliating and yoghurt is good for reducing skin redness, and of course cucumber or teabags on the eyes. Do you have any specific things you really like to use?
