Their lead singer is 94... his fans will be throwing incontinence pads onto the stage
He is however not the lead singer, but the double bass player.

Re: Eurovision - anybody watching?

Just hope she's sobered up by the time of the performance. When they interviewed her on The One Show last night, she said she'd had lots to drink at the party at the embassy and then said later that she was in Denmark! Not good PR for garnering votes.

Re: Eurovision - anybody watching?

I watched part of it yesterday and thought that the quality of contestants has certainly improved.

I hear our own salvation army will not be getting on until tomorrow, though.

Somewhere I heard a comment that the Eurovision was one of the things that unites Europeans - we all agree it's crap, but we watch it none the less!!!

Anybody watching? I've just tuned in. What have I missed?
Nothing. I had the TV on at the beginning, but as it all sounded the same, quit

Just found this in the news and thought how some of you are avid followers of the contest. Switzerland has selected who they're going to send off to Denmark this year.

Gisel is an active member on the English Forum. Here's hoping she'll win. I, for one, am very proud of her.

Go, Gisel!

Evening planned - just need to decide on refreshments. Themed by favourite country, song theme

My fave was Alexander Ryback a few years back - awesome violinist

You'd miss Terry W in fairness. Graham does a good job but Terry really added to the show

Re: Eurovision - anybody watching?

Watched the whole thing...texting with a Finnish friend and getting pop-up commentaries from my kids. I'm a bit disappointed...

I liked the Netherlands and am glad they came out as high as they did, Sanna was good but it wasn't an act - just a song. I was surprised Iceland didn't get that many votes, but that Norway got as many as they did...not much very memorable music-wise, it is EV

I kept asking myself how Conchita would score if s(he) were clearly male or female - not as high IMO. But braveness gets points too, and s(he) did get votes from East to West.

Re: Eurovision - anybody watching?

Well, at least Conchita can sing...jesus, what was that whistling Swiss band? Can't Switzerland pull Tina out of mothballs and have her sing just as Humperdink did for the UK a while back. Didn't win but...at least didn't make you want to make the pain stop either.

Finland had a respectable entry as did a few others but, meh, I think when the contest makes you wistful for Jedward, it has missed the plot. Denmark put on a really great show though. Ah, until next year....
