Help needed to crack a scam

I'm looking for a flat in Basel but I think I'm on to a scammer.

Would someone in Basel help me out with a small favour? Please PM me and I will give out the details.

Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help.

Just my two rapps worth: Leave it to the police. Scammers are criminals, and criminals aren't known for being nice.

I need help in collecting info. so that I can determine if it is a scam or not.

Without information, what do I say to the police?? In your books, he is automatically guilty by default. Is that right?

If I can catch him out, I can warn others on what's going on.

The mysterious vagueness of this thread makes me wonder if you are a scammer yourself

If it feels like a scam then it normally is. Walk away.

Cheers

Re: Help needed to crack a scam

all the apartment scams I have seen have been pretty obvious, if they ask for cash, or say western union at any point then its a scam, simple.

Re: Help needed to crack a scam

Sounds like you want some help gathering some evidence to report them to stop their game. i respect that and if everyone did it there would be less scammers. Just turning away leaves them to prey on someone else.

BUT - Say exactly what you want the volunteer(s) to do. e.g. you want them to phone up a number, say you've heard about the flat ask xyz etc. Whether any visit is necessary (I would be wary of that) etc. Don't give details of the ad, flat etc here.

Have the Police said they won't help? Try telling them your suspicions and asking them to phone etc to confirm / deny. They may get more usable evidence if they do it, and if the scammers get several in a short period they may get suspicious.

That's exactly right. I want to collect information to form the grounds of my suspicion before I go to the Police. Rushing off to the Police with woolly ideas is not going to wash.

Come on. Give us a clue as to want you want us to do.
This scam may already be common knowledge to most.

Besides, Im already sceptical that i have to pm you privately.

I've only had 4 beers and still don't know what this is about, but in true conspiratory fashion I needed gazole today and saw a petrol station selling some. If anyone has bought gazole from a petrol station could they please let me know.... just to fuel my suspicions.
