Sweaty feet

yesterday, in the blazing heat and humidity, i noticed quite a few women prancing along the bahnhofstrasse wearing miniskirts and sheepskin, furry winter boots. who are they kidding? is it just me, or does it look plain ridiculous to be wearing such footwear in the midst of summer?

It's you I'm afraid, they don't look ridiculous in the midst of summer, they look ridiculous at all times and should be banned.

They were probably wearing Ugg boots (it's all the rage) from Australia. I like to refer to them as Ugglys.

Re: Sweaty feet

The locals don't sweat. At work, as soon as the temperature goes above 10 degrees, I end up dripping like a buggered fridge, while over 30 degrees, the worst I've seen from my workmates was that one of them had slightly sweaty armpits. Once.

Yes, they are indeed UGG boots. Perfect for a crisp autumn or snowy winter day, but it was sweltering hot yesterday.

Re: Sweaty feet

They are inappropriate at any time of year. The fashion police should arrest wearers. And this is coming from someone who is very much not a fashion slave

At least it wasn't raining yesterday. I see so many people wearing them when its raining or when there is snow. They ain't waterproof and end up soaked.

I'm from Australia and I wouldn't be seen dead in Uggboots outside.

Exactly - you're NOT going out dressed like that!

Agree. Just look at Federer playing tennis, he looks like he just walked out of a fridge, not a hair out of place while everyone he plays is dripping in sweat.

I have Ugg's and the sheepskin in them keep your feet at a constant temperature, warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They really are practical and go with most things in my wardrobe
Mine are not pink though they are chocolate brown

Re: Sweaty feet

I was in Milan last week and there seems to be a new uniform. Ugg boots and miniskirt I can remember seeing in the States a couple of years before I moved to Switzerland 2 years ago.

The new trend is super duper short skirts with the bottom of your butt cheeks showing when you walk, along with slouchy suede boots. Don't ask me details about the boots because I did not focus my attention that far down. They were not Uggs, or maybe they were. who knows. The Denim mini skirts that are so short that you can see your butt are something I can give much detail on though!

Re: Sweaty feet

Uggs and minis are soooo five minutes ago. This was a fad in California about five years ago. It was a way of showing the change of the seasons in an area where the actual seasons do not change. Therefore, when fall came along, one exchanged her Rainbows for her Uggs and off she went until spring.

However, years have passed since then and no self-respecting fashionista would be caught dead in that dated look. No, no, no. One now wears only Mukluks or Freys with her minis in the cooler months. And those Freys had better be vintage and those Mukluks had better be from Saskatchewan.

Re: Sweaty feet

actually the funniest thing is there is a moccasin version - not a boot - and in the 80's the group of people who wore these were most definitely not fashionistas

they were called Bogans and wore tight tight acid wash denim, singlets, flannelette checked shirts and moccies (slang for moccasins) - oh and hair style was the ever fashionable mullet

hang on - searching for link/picture

oh look what i've found http://www.bogan.com.au/

I haven't warm them since I was a kid and they were my slippers, so strictly indoors only. Useful for cold winters without central heating.

Pity I didn't have them when I was a student, I would've slept in them

I am still laughing at the fact that Milan is 4 years behind an Australian trend.

I believe ExMilExpat stated the trend in Milan was now:

"...super duper short skirts with the bottom of your butt cheeks showing when you walk, along with slouchy suede boots."

and not the UGG boots with the miniskirt.
