| | Bed Bugs!!
Hi Friends!
I am living here is Zug for past one year. Its all going happy in the current house but last Sunday I noticed 4-5 bedbugs in my Bed..
Since the summer is not over yet, I have learnt that once these horrible stuff starts increasing ..it multiplies rapidly.
Can anybody please tell me as to is there any powder, spray available which can cure these creatures.(Pls tell me the brandname of the product or the product's name in German).
Or else can anyone please give me the contact or search details for the persons who can do the paste control activity ...?So that permanent solution can be feasible.
Thanks
Cheers | This user would like to thank s.apfico for this useful post:

Hi if you are living in an apartment block you should contact the rental agency as they usually treat the whole building. Dont waste any time as those little ***** multiply like mad.
Good luck.

They are called "Bettwanzen" in German. Perhaps you can ask in a drug store for something to eradicate them. From what I've read you really should report them though.

you also have to wash all your clothes, bedding, etc. and dry it for at least 40 minutes at high heat to kill all the eggs. then i recommend keeping all the stuff in plastic bags for months. also throw out all the cardboard in your apartment. bed bugs are extremely resilient and can live for over a year without a 'meal' ... you really need to call in the professionals.

Do you have a referral for a mattress cleaner? Also, how much does it cost? Ours just arrived by ship from the U.S. and could use a good scrubbing. Thx.

If they are "bedwantzen" they will eat you as well!! IIIEEEEWWW
well, 1 thing: you need profi's. This summer in Amsterdam some hotels had that issue. There is only one detergent actually working and that may only used by profi's. They need a special approval for this.
Funny thing is that the approval was expired and a new approval took like 2 weeks to get. Without approval they cannot buy the stuff: so some of the hotels had to close some of the rooms for weeks because also the profi's could not come exterminate them! And don't think it were just the cheapo hotels, even a 5* hotel had it....
Good luck with it!

Sorry for sort of stealing this thread but it seems we have the same problem...and my husband and I are now exhibiting a rash...yesterday I could not sleep and in the dark I swear I touched one bug and threw it out of bed (useless I know) I have an appointment with the dermatologist just in case on Friday and then call the rental agency...EWWWW
Anyone has experience getting rid of this? I think burning my mattress does not sound too far fetched! |

my friends and family have had huge problems with this in nyc for a long time. it never seems to go away for long and really tough to get rid of in an apartment building. not much you can do, throw out mattresses, all bedding and get a professional exterminator, but even then it has to be done in the building not just your apartment. but bed bugs are so tiny, really tiny. so if you could pick one up maybe it's not bedbugs after all | This user would like to thank amaraya for this useful post:

Permethrin spray kills nearly everything inc bed bugs- not recommended for those with cats as it will kill them also.

Are you sure you its bedbugs? Do you have a red itchy rash? Check the seams of your mattress for signs of them and on your sheets for little blood stains (gross I know!).
I think I would want to burn the mattress too!

i would happily offer you a can of my spray but as you have a cat (i assume by the photo) it may not be the best idea just "in case" something happens.
