Well (sigh), if you give the part number I can see which shops have it in stock and reccommend from there, as not all shops have every part in stock in CH. Anyway, good luck with the purchase.

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

To me it is very important that a PC is quiet. I would go for the branded PC. Preferably Fujitsu Siemens. They have a good reputation for building quiet and well engineered PCs.

Nothing wrong with shopping around, AND delivery, setup and services in your home. Can Digitec do that?

What a surprise, PC Designs advertising in another thread outside the business section...

Personally I would trust digitec more for warranty.

Not mine though, don't judge all by other experiences until you have supporting reasons.

digitec is a well-known brand, they are not posting in this thread advertising, people are reccommending them. That's the difference.

I am just saying that personally I would always go with a large brand like digitec than a small business, the spec will be better for the money, and the warranty more complete in my experience.

I need to buy a PC (normal PC not a notebook) and am tempted to buy from digitec. Their website gives the option of either a branded pc or a digitec pc.

Does anyone have any suggestion/experience on this?

Thanks a million!
Hi I never heard from Digitec...
For me, if I have to buy a "Home PC", i'll just buy the spares and mount it myself, it much better to get the config you want.

For a laptop, I would go for a dell again :P

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

For 1500 CHF you get a much better offer than Digitec, just check MediaMarkt

http://www.mediamarkt.ch/fileadmin/m...yer.pdf#page=5

and you get a branded PC.

Which PC are you referring to specifically for 1500 CHF that beats digitec?

As stated previously, you nearly always get a better specified PC from a custom built system, buying a brand generally means you pay more for less.

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

Actually, just a quick follow up question. Why are you using a PC for music production. Mac's have the best software for this? May I ask what software you are using (Cubase?)

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

Own build will match or beat the quality of any name brand PC out there if you do your homework. I pick the best components and have stable running machine 24/7 365 days.....

Cheaper on the wallet too and you don't need any support cause you are your own DAWG!

I know for "normal" people it's not an option that is why PC corner shops, Dells and Apples of this world exist. Still it is so easy that you don't even need to be a nerd!

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

It's true, I know people who swore that they could never build a PC that went on to build one successfully, and i'm talking people who had never done that sort of thing before. There is no need to pay a computer shop to do it for you, all it takes is a bit of research and the will to learn.

Re: Digitec versus Branded pc

I would have to agree with the home-builders here. The only branded PC I ever bought was the 1st I owned, a Dell back in '98. Ever since then I have built or upgraded my own machines. which brings me to another advantage of home-built; upgradeability, something which can be difficult/nigh on impossible with branded machines.

Definately, you can't even overclock a Dell.
