Finally...something for free in Switzerland!!!

Yes, you heard it right...

Today I was at the Zurich main library wanting to get some
books. I was quite happily pulling out my wallet to pay for
the annual registration fee and then it happened....free!!

There are no annual fees to get a card. You get full access
to the books and can even use it in other libraries.

http://www.zb.uzh.ch/ - homepage of the Zurich main library
which is not in english.

You can easily use

http://opac.nebis.ch/F?local_base=ne...le_name=find-b

to search all libraries and even specify "english" only books.

Please take advantage and enjoy....ps they verified I lived in Canton
Zurich and had a "B" permit. You need you auslander card when you
register.

best wishes.
Anwar

Then you'd get to find out about the size of the overdue book fines!

Re: Finally...something for free in Switzerland!!!

same goes for the membership and books in Geneva too - you have to pay a franc for movies and cd's but there are a couple coupons for free ones included in the registration

SWISSMISS143 has become a little unpopular
Re: Finally...something for free in Switzerland!!!

Do they have a good selection of english books and dvds in geneva library? Do they do exchange with other libraries in Switzerland? (so you can rent a book that is at another library?)

many thanks for this great information!
