Gift Cards and Receipts

As Mrs Texaner and I are giving a Migros gift card to a friend, we would like to know the norm in Switzerland in terms of including the receipt (in case there are any problems redeeming the card). In the US, it is not uncommon to include the receipt, since the occasional glitch (or unscrupulous cashier) can yield a defective card — which the receipt can correct. Is the same practiced in CH?

Any insights...? (Thanks!)

Re: Gift Cards and Receipts

nope, no need to include the receipt. Just get it checked to see if the credit is correct and that's it.
I've offered two of these and they're really appreciated.
good choice.

a receipt is definitely a no-no from a cultural point of view.

Even when buying a book, the book store will add a ticket without the price so that the receiver can change the item.
