Body world exhibition in Zurich

hi there

We are heading tomorrow with my wife and 2 kids to zurich to see the Bodyworld exhibition. Saw this few years back B.C (before children) in London and since my son is fscinated by anatomy and science, this would be be perfect. Anyone has been there yet? any good. Would you recommend resonably-priced nearby places to eat?

Many thanks

I'll post feed-back

cheers

El Tarico

Hi,

The building it's taking place in as a few asian restaurants and there's the Migro restaurant about 2 minutes away from the actual place that the body world exhibit will be taking place...

You can also go down to Escher-Wyss Platz and there's a range of Turkish restaurants...

Have fun!

Re: Body world exhibition in Zurich

went there with a friend, the exhibit is all in german but you can rent english language headsets (additonal price of CHF7?)
we didn't bother with them and tried to use our german (some of the medical terms were a bit difficult)
we didn't eat there but there seemed to be a few restaurants in the puls5 building itself (as mentioned)

If I may, how old are your kids? It might be a bit scary for them, no? Seeing a body in real life is not exactly the same than in an anatomy book... Especially since some settings are supposed to question our own taboos and limits, such as a dead couple having sex, for instance.

Re: Body world exhibition in Zurich

Hi

thanks a lot for this wealth of local knowledge !!

my children are 6 and 5. when i was young my mum use to work in a high school and i was fascinated by biology and during summer holidays the Lab technician used to show me all the formaldehyde-conserved beasts, foetus of sheep, even a human as well as very nice colored slides of ...you name it, leaves, planst etc.. left long-lasting impact on me as you can tell. now i agree the exhibtion might be a little more lively but providing the rigth amount of guidance and explanation should take away the edge. Any thoughts?

the copulation bodies were in a separate room, you need to be 18 to enter.

Re: Body world exhibition in Zurich

IMHO 5 and 6 is a bit young for this. I remember that as a child I was traumatised by the formaldehyde-conserved misshapen 'monsters' they have at our local museum in Lausanne, like 2-headed lambs and so on. And I was really shocked by the foetuses too.

I fully understand the 'educative' part of your argument, and you know your kids better than anybody else. It's you who knows the potential risks of having to face nightmares for the next 2 months!
