Re: iMac delivered in error: Honesty?

You're dealing with evil Apple. Who also make a hell of lot of money on their overpriced goods.

You've already made the effort to be honest. I don't understand why you're worrying about it anymore.

Enjoy your new computer until such time, if ever, they ask for it back.

Use it as a pair of headphones? It does have stereo speakers, right?

Re: iMac delivered in error: Honesty?

why don't you also call up apple to get the headphones you did order? maybe your experience with their customer service will help you decided what to do?

Tash, you're brilliant!!!

The OP should convert immediately to Jainism, wherein just the thought
is sufficient to acquire the bad karma (it doesn't need the action!).

Since the OP has therefore already got the bad karma, they might as well
keep the Mac. Sorted!

...and then subsequently restore the good karma by thinking of trading it in for a proper PC.

Cork, Ireland via UPS Holland. Even the UPS sticker had a 3kg weight for a 13kg box.....

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

UPDATE: The question everyone's asking me now is how long will I wait before taking further action. Answer: a "reasonable amount of time". Any takers on "reasonableness"?

The question is: could you tell us the headphones model you've ordered? I'm trying to order one pair of those for myself right now!

If you keep something that you know isn't your property - that's theft... but if you've tried to give it back, I'd guess it becomes yours.

I wonder what the judge would say?

iMac

I ordered an iMac and just got these stinking headphones

I wish I could trace the person who got my iMac so that we could swap.

I don't think that'd help, it's obviously a black friday glitch.

Re: iMac delivered in error: Honesty?

My sis who works in Holland for a large Japanese camera manufacturer and has done intl logistics for some time has got in touch with the following points:

1. From a logistics standpoint - there is no record of it being paid for as there is no record of the relevant costs have been paid for with importing it into switzerland legally duties/taxes paid.
2.So, to get it back - they would have to ask you to bring it into an eu country to ship back (where I'd have the risk of exporting it illegally from CH, and illegally re-importing it into EU).
3. or they could write it off..... stock damage
4. It's likely the mix-up will get reported and buried under someones mountain of paperwork and get put into the misplaced stock pile and insurance would pay for it
5. If you ask them - what documents will be needed - how soon can they get them sorted etc - will customs be contacting you....it might be too high a level of effort
6. As I work for an insurance company I have an employment policy obligation to report possible fraud to the Swiss Insurance Association, the Dutch one (shipper) and the Irish one (manufacturer).
7. The shipper will also have a problem with current and future shipments at Xmas time which they don't need if this goes public.

Comments?

Re: iMac delivered in error: Honesty?

Legally all you have to do is make a reasonable effort to inform them of their mistake after that the ball is in their court.

As stated in the OP, already done since day of delivery. Question is how long reasonably do I wait before it becomes mine....

They often say in the small print that products can vary in specification and may not be as pictured....
