Re: taking a proper passport photo in Zurich

I did our son's today at Foto Ganz on Rennweg, as I knew they knew the different sizes and backgrounds for the States, UK and CH.

The woman there did a great job and was very patient with my sleeping (then grumpy) 4 week old. She managed to get a photo that shouldn't get rejected, although it does look like a Baby Mug Shot.

Re: taking a proper passport photo in Zurich

I took my son's photo with my digital camera and used the following software for correct size & shape and got printed.

http://www.onthegosoft.com/

Note that you need to buy license which is $10. And for prints another $10 if you don't have printer at home. All less than $20 I would say

Re: taking a proper passport photo in Zurich

After wasting 20 chf on the pront machines and not getting my specified pic for US tourist visa, I did this and got 10 passport photos for 50 rappen in this way :

Took pic in front of white wall with digital camera.
Cropped the pic to 2x2 inch as required (600x600 pixels at 300 dpi).
Created blank pic of size 6x4 inch that the machine prints (roughly 15x10 cm)
Placed cropped pics in 2 rows and 5 colums in this empty image.
Stored image on pen drive, took to machine, printed 1 pic with 10 shots for 50 rappen , then cut them up into seperates.

ta-daaa.

p.s : If you dont know to use image editing, you can PM me your pic, and I can get it in this format, takes 2 mins tops

Re: taking a proper passport photo in Zurich

There is a photo studio near Meierhoplatz in Zurich Höngg called Foto Vido Peyer (Limattalstrasse 164), where I took photos for both US visa and a passport foto for a German visa (35mm *45mm, standard size I believe). The studio is also open on Saturdays until 4pm, which is wonderful, and you get the photos within a few minutes for 35CHF. Highly recommended!

Simply go to a good photo shop that will do it professionally. Here is a good one.
I did mine here.https://www.fotopro.ch/Filiale/FotoPro-GANZ-Rennweg

Hi,

I need to have proper passport photos done for Australia. This involves a white background, matt paper with shoulders and face angled forward. The last time I went to take passport photos here, I thought I'd do it properly and ended up with a portrait shot with a slight turn of head... defintiely not somethign I could give the aussies.

I've tried machines, they're just not clear and I've heard from friends that the authorities don't accept them anyway.

So has anyone had this done somewhere in Zurich - maybe a pharmacist somewhere?

Thanks,
Nanda.
