You know what this country needs?

Zeppelin rides. Just sayin'. I'd quit my day job to do that.

How about about a Junkers 52 tour?

There are the hot air balloons in Chateau D'Oex:

We have blimps in the SF Bay Area (on your way to Alaska next time). Very costly though. They take off from Moffett Field.

They lost their license to operate from Buochs. Probably because they were too noisy.

Do you know how to fly or ride an airship phdoofus?

I was also wondering whether these airships can be flown in nice weather only or can they stand a bit of a storm too up there in the skies?

"Noisy" seems a little much, unless they'd do the same to any other aircraft operators. I've flown in one of those in the US, and it wasn't any noisier than a small airplane.

Re: You know what this country needs?

I remember quite well when they flew around the Rigi. They were very noisy. The noise would echo through the mountains. And because they were slow, the noise continued for a long time. And this every weekend.

Nice to look at though.

I hadn't thought about the effect of the echo, and yes, I suppose long and often repeated flights would get tiresome. The flight I took was a one-time event in a location devoid of anything resembling Swiss mountains a very different set of circumstances.

Re: You know what this country needs?

There's a new restaurant in Opfikon (near the Swiss TV studios) called the Graf Zeppelin which is where the airships used to land prior to WW2:

Inside the center there's a big model of the GZ hanging from the ceiling. Pretty impressive

I understand the theory and have had some small plane training. I wouldn't want to be in any kind of storm up in the mountains in one.

Funny, seems they could make them with quieter engines.

This is pretty popular come summer here in Zug. I see it flying over head often.

These claim to have zero noise. I wonder what their carrying capacity is.
