Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Well we were well beaten on Saturday, 2 own goals from Bartschi and Schnyder didn't help.

I was wondering if Reiber and Stalder were being paid by the penalty - 8 x 2 + a 10 for Zug and 14 x 2 + 2 x 10 for ZSC was ridiculous.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Seems as if Geneva and Fribourg can't win at home at the moment. Ice advantage back with the Dragons though.
Allez Gottéron!

Lots of calls but lots of penalty worthy incidents really. Best moment of the game, bar the final buzzer, was Schynder's hit on Pittis (I think it was Pittis anyways.) Absolutely awesome and legal (Matt Cooke could learn a thing or two here!). The Zug bench were banging their sticks loudly after that one and rightly so. This is gonna continue to be an awesome series! Back at the Hallenstadion tomorrow night - hoping Jussi can stand on his head and steal us a win, like Craig Anderson did for the Avs against the Dallas Stars last night

It also depends on whether our D actually start defending. I have visions of Sulo storming off after the game and yelling "Trade me right ****ing now! at Sean with Matthias telling him "now hang up"

Have to say your goalie was pretty good on Saturday.

You coming over tomorrow?

Hahaha, awesome Slap Shot quoting!! Hopefully he'll also say... "I'm tired of it! Puke! Blah! All the time, puke!"

Afraid not, working until puck drop and not going to watch Zug games at the Hallenstadion is part of my current superstitions. I also have my lucky socks on! (Worn them the last 2 games and Zug won )

"Reg, reg..I was coaching in Omaha in 1948, Eddie Shore sends me this guy who was a terible mastur...he would get deliberate penalties so he could go over in the penalty box and..."

"You take the van, I'll keep the dog."

"icing happen when the puck come down, bang you know, before the other guys you know. Nobody there, you know."

And my personal favourite:

Denis Lemieux: "Against the rules. You know you're stupid when you do that. Just some English pig with no brains, you know."

Jim: "And there's a penalty for that?"

Dennis Lemieux: "You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and feel shame, you know. And then you get free."

Looking forward to some Zug ass-kicking tonight.

As for the Laughs, I am sure the Sens will be alright. Nobody needs help beating them.

P.S. Switzerland is a messed up place where ice-level seats are as cheap as the nosebleeds. Guess it's all about comfort rather than hockey.

Should be a great game tonight! Hopp Zug!!

Avs @ Blues tonight, will be up for that to see if we can chase Chris Mason. Again Also later this week, Boston take on Pittsburgh - may be worth watching as Boston will want to win it bad after Matt Cooke put Marc Savard out for the season.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Woot! Gotteron destroy Geneva,. 3 chances at a place in the semis for the 3rd season in a row. Not bad for a team who were 14 points under the bar at one stage of the season.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

I haven't Zurichers act so angry. Fingers to the ref; beer thrown on the ice; beer thrown at refs when exiting ice. Exciting.

Goal called back after video replay. Then team penalty (I thought to the fans, but seems to the coach). Then goal by Zug with the man-advantage.
Ouch!!!!

Yes. Change your socks!

Well done, you ground that one out. It ain't over until it's over though, I've seen the Zett come back from 3-1 down before. I don't think we'll do it this time though .

I think the thing that changed the game was the washed out goal. I thought it was a bit harsh and I can sympathise with the fans who chucked beer over the refs as they left the ice. ZSC will get an invoice for that. Am I bovvered?

Oh well on to Zug again on Thurs. I'm watching it on the TV this time, maybe that'll change our luck. Refs are Kurmann and Massy this time, since Kurmann usually calls the game as "no inquest, no call" we might be able to stay out of the box.
