Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Tonight!!

Will Davos sweep the series? or does Kloten have a comeback (well a big one I guess) planned.

I'm not gonna miss this one after the embarressment of an OT 1:0 win with double digit scoring in the soccer matches at the same time.

I'm going to bring this one back from the grave and boast about how my Canucks are playing. Looks like I'm going to have to order some playoff games.
And with Helsinki's IFK in Finland going through to the SM Liiga finals after a great play-off, this could very well be my first double

My favorite time of the year for team sports. I love this hit.

Ok--that pissed me off. Play goalie, not enforcer.

THIS was the hit of the night.

but seriously, I hope Horton recovers 100%, and Rome thinks twice before such a late hit.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Horton will not likely return until next season due to a serious concussion, and Rome is suspended for 4 games - He'll miss the rest of the series if it goes to 7 games, or if the series goes shorter, he'll miss a couple at the start of next regular season.

Awesome hit, just a tiny bit late.

The Thomas hit was funny, you never see that in front of the net, maybe occasionally behind the net.

Big shame to see Horton get hurt, but jees, you can't be skating through the middle admiring your pass or you're gonna get creamed. Especially not in the playoffs

Shawn Heins did a similar hit on a SCB player a couple of years back. Hard but fair .

At first glance I was going to say: Too bad, so sad, that's why you keep your head up.

On the replay, it was definitely a late hit, probably fuelled by a bit too much emotion from Rome, but Horton can't just pass the puck and leisurely watch the received pass--it is the finals-gotta keep focused and prepared especially on an offense tied attack two games down in the series.

LOVED the Timmeh hit! I stayed up for Monday's game and was so glad I did, what a game! I HATE the 'Nucks and that was an awesome moment

Go Bruins!

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

I hear Zurich is getting a new head coach as well.

He was the head coach the last time (a Bruin) won a Stanley Cup.

Damn bug seems to fly into my eye every time I see that. He got both eyes this time....... that was a great night.

I didnt have tickets to that game, but I was about a block away watching it on a big screen with a bar tab that had been running since 9:30 a.m that morning.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

4-0 Boston.

Looks like Big Mo changed sides. That hit on Horton helped the Bruins more than it hurt them. Sometimes thats all it takes, a lucky bounce or an (un)lucky injury.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Going to game 7 in VanCity.

The Canucks have been good there (with the fans), but looking at GA stats, Boston is dominating this series.

Anywhere near Zurich to watch the game tomorrow?

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Nowhere i know of in Zurich that has satelitte TV will be open late enough to host the game as it starts around 02.15am. Maybe a big hotel ? If I was still running Paddy Reilly's you could stayed up and watched it there with me, but alas, I quit there last year. You may be able to try and convince the manager at Hooters to stay open if you got enough people together, but it's probably too short notice now.

Congrats Beantowners!

Boston deserved it (well at least looking at the scores of the series). Would have loved to see VanCity get theirs, but in all reality I think the fans wanted and deserved it more than the team.

Pretty lame riots to end the season though--they could learn from Montreal
