NHL star Jason Spezza has signed with Rapperswil of the Swiss National Hockey League. Why sit it out while greedy owners lock out the players.

Swiss Hockey will be getting even better in the next weeks with the expected infusion of top NHL players.

Looks like the Thornton-Nash show are ripping it up in Davos. I'm going to try and catch some of their hockey when possible. Spezza is also a great player to watch.

I wonder if they playing style of the either the NHL players here, or their new teammates in the NLA will change?

And yes, I am bitter, because HCFG have declined to take on any NHL players during the dispute .

Apparently, Sidney Crosby's insurance ALONE cost 400k a month .

Seriously! that's insane. That being said, some of the KHL teams have become very wealthy over the last few years. Although I have a feeling, that for 400k a month insurance, he will become a target and eaten alive if he plays in Russia, the KHL is a tad bit rougher and barbaric than the NHL.

Nearest thing I've seen was in Lugano in 2002 when Lugano fans reacted to an overtime win by ZSC (ZSC-Lugano is a pretty intense rivalry) by invading the ice
and coming after the ZSC players with the players own sticks and even team benches

The NLA brought in a wodge of restrictions on away fans after that such as fan buses having to leave straight after the game rather than hanging around for a while to have a drink or 3 with the home fans.

Usually relations between the fans are pretty friendly, it's mainly all mouth and trousers.

The strangest thing about this game was that the ZSC Fans were not allowed in the stadion for the match and people still had fights...within the Lugano Fans.

Tonight there is the epic game between the Olten Powermice vs. the Thurgau Lions. Is anybody going? (well, the game is in Thurgau..but Olten is going to dominate, so it's like a home game for us anyways )

I'm surprised that the Zett haven't signed anyone. it would have been nice to see Mark Streit back in a ZSC shirt.

Also next Saturday comes the end of an era as we give Sulo (Ari Sulander) his testimonial. After the testimonial we play Ambri who Sulo actually scored against a few years back. Not bad for a goalie, I teased my Ambri supporting colleague something rotten over that.
