Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Well Lausanne looked out on their feet in the 3rd period there. Really brave effort though. So we have the top 4 through.

Hopefully Zurich having played 7 hard games may give us more of a chance than we may otherwise have expected. Fribourg should have too much for Kloten I reckon.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Do or die tonight for ZSC and Geneva. Not too interested to see who's up against Kloten, more depressed that Toronto is looking to start another 14 years on no playoffs--pathetic!

In the NHL, one more wildcard spot left, not sure who to support now: All the teams are meh. If Phoenix gets the last spot---I'll get their backs.

As I usually have to ignore the NHL due to the time shift, the Spengler Cup always gets the juices flowing again.

For all the Swiss player who thing I'm weird on the ice, here's a great vid which is all too real

Go Canada! Let's knock out Geneva-Serviette tonight!
I was wondering if anyone posted that. I'm that drunk guy in the beer league who walks out onto the ice with my skate guards still on and I can pronounce Pekka Rinne just fine.

ZSC!!!!

Edit. I just realized that Pekka Rinne is actually a real hockey player. I thought it was, well, you know.....
MY PEKKA's RINNE!

Round two underway and Montreal steals game on from Boston in 2nd overtime.

Game 2 is an afternoon game so good watching time for us in Europe. Anyone interested in joining tomorrow to watch the game?

Let me know!

We are 3rd in Team A. Woooo...

So, tonight, I hope Kazachs beat the US. They deserve it. And Slovaks could beat Swedes, hmmm..But Fins and Cannucks are almost certain.

Ah, Yanks won. It's ok, they had to work hard for it. CA win was no suprise.. I am curious about the two games.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

We have another new goalie Roman Will, in Colorado, he is 21. After Bartosak and Langhamer, hope it works out for him. I'll be watching him...

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Just got back from the US (first time in 2 years) and was blown away about home much sport coverage they have ESPN1,2,3.....

Lots of softball, lacross, surprising a lot of soccer, and of course baseball, football and basketball. Almost more college level than pro.

But to the important stuff: Lots of Stanley cup coverage, but absolutely nothing on the IIHF World Championship...nothing. Even in Canada there is coverage, but zero in the US.

I did catch the Montreal-Boston game in boston: Bye-bye bruins!!! but NYR did destroy the Habs in game one. I guess the Price was wrong.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Not sure why they don't don't cover it, probably due to lack of financial interests..Maybe it competes with their own investments.

Go, boys, go..we gotta win over Frenchies tonight. Well, we don't have to anymore. But hope we will.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as there are no Canadian Linesmen.

Ohhhhh...we won. Over Yanks. We beat US butts. We squished those fauling bullies, by sheer skills, decency and intelligence, we play different game and it does not always pay off....well, something like that. l am thrilled, wish I was home to cheer with others.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Well Russia takes gold, but I think the refs called a terrible game, and those Russians are terrible divers. It was the kinda game I expected to see in the Olympics with the Russians at home.

Stanley cup shaping up to be NYR-LAK. Although Chicago and Montreal aren't done yet (Montreal are fairly useless without Price, but they are trying to hang in there).

My greatest dissapointment was seeing my home club Guelph fall shy of the Memorial Cup last night. A dream season falling apart in the last, most important game. Poor kids, but a lot of talent in that Club including two Swiss players at the moment. Storm Nation will have to wait another season
