an accomplishment ). Now, we are ready for the Ruskies and
Canucks!

I think they'll keep both for now, would be daft not to. Price is bound to get another chance down the road but you can't leave Halak out when he's this hot. | | | | | Biggest Habs goaltending controversy since Roy - Hayward.

As expected, the 3 games on Sunday are HUUUUGGGEEE!! USA Canada and Russia Czechs suddenly seem even more interesting, considering it may mean Russia and Canada having to play an extra game and no direct route into the 1/4 finals! IF the Russians lose to the Czechs and the Slovaks predictably beat the Latvians, I have them finishing 7th and therefore having to play the extra quali game. Same applies to Canada if they lose in regulation, staying on 5 points - Fins, Swedes and winners of RUS/CZE will have minimum 6pts.
I think Canada beats the US, and goes through to the quarters with Sweden, Finland and the Russians who will beat the Czechs in my eyes.

The Caps look unstoppable (won 14 straight!) - can they keep it up and win the Stanley Cup? Will the Sharks bottle it again? Can the Pens be the first team in years to win back to back Cups?
Anyone else got a burning desire to talk hockey?! | | | | | we saw two NHL games in the states over xmas new year and the Caps game in DC was the BEST game of ice hockey i've (ok in my limited viewings) seen
Ovechkin is INCREDIBLE
and the game wasn't 3 periods where 1st is slow, 2nd bit faster and 3rd they go for it, it was 3 periods of just going for it - awesome
So mark me up as a Caps fan now
where / when can we watch NHL games???

Moving from Boston to Zurich, can anybody tell me if there is any expat pick up hockey?
Also my daughter plays and I am hoping there is girls hockey. Any info would be appreciated.
As for who will win the olympics, well there is only one answer! Canada!
Although I did catch allot of S.... from my Swiss wife.

| | Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread | Quote: | | | | | Most other sports are fairly well represented here and I thought we should have a hockey discussion thread, with the business end of the season looming and the following to discuss:
Olympic Hockey - who will win? Can Canada do it on home ice or will the Russians be too powerful? Can the Czechs or the Swedes pinch it? How will the Swiss do?
NLA - 2 games left in the regular season (after the Olympic break), will Bern crash out in the first round again? Anyone else hoping ZSC get stuffed? I'm hoping Zug get 3rd place but would settle for 4th and a series against ZSC.
NHL - just under a third of the regular season left and it's getting tight. The Caps look unstoppable (won 14 straight!) - can they keep it up and win the Stanley Cup? Will the Sharks bottle it again? Can the Pens be the first team in years to win back to back Cups?
Anyone else got a burning desire to talk hockey?! | | | | | For obvious reasons, I hope you are right about my Washington Capitals. The question for the Caps isn't whether their offense is good enough, but rather if their defense is good enough to get past the Penguins and win the Stanley Cup.

Great link for all the games.
As you amy hacve experienced, most of the games have not been shown so far with the exception of those involving CH.
Try this link, I'm watching the Czechs against Russia now in perfect time. http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/olympics/
Then check the listings under programme to see which square you need to click on. AWESOME, wish I'd have know 10 days ago!

A win is a win and they came out real strong in the first 10 minutes and hung on in the end. Solid goaltending throughout but I think the U.S. will have to play better to get a medal. Although if goaltending stays hot they will not have a problem because Miller was solid.
Canada really needs to get their act together. Maybe the extra game will help | This user would like to thank luminousmind08 for this useful post: | |

Unfortunately, it came on too late, and I could not watch it.
US NHL subsidized by Canadians. You mean with players, I hope.
Many of the NHL teams have gone south due to financial problems
in Canadian cities.

need we dive into the ol'Bettman plan and our good friends at RIM?
