Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Once Canada gets rid of the mentality "it is our game", we will do much better. There are currently 6 great hockey nations. Otherwise we will down the road become like England in football. Yzermann messed up by picking such an old team. We shouldnt have a former player as a GM who then picks former buddies. They need to throw in some of the faster and more passionate young guys. Esp on defence.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Now will the solution of putting Lugano...I mean Luongo back in net save our (Canada's) chances as everyone have been claiming (and hoping).
I'm a big Brodeur fan, he's arguably one of the best goalies of all time, but it seems his Olympic flame has fizzled a bit

Agreed they had to do something, although don't think it worked in 2002 when they pulled Joseph...Can't get any worse.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

So, the big one, what many thought may have been the gold medal game...

Canada v Russia!

I'm excited already! Predictions for tonight then, kids?? I think it's gonna be a tight one, 3/4-2 (last one being an empty netter if 4-2) and to be honest, it could go either way. Buuuuuuuut, I'm going to stick my neck out and say Canada wins. Hoping Bobby Lu plays the game of his life, I think he's gonna need to. Canada's 4th line seems to be playing pretty darned well and Iginla's hit the goal trail at the right time.

Anyone see Shea Weber's goal last night? Man, can he hit a puck! Through the net and it even left a black mark from the puck. I remember being extremely excited to watch him play in the World Champs over here last year just to see his slap shot. He scored 2 v Hungary, if I recall. His shot really is a thing of beauty! http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/The...net_could_hold

Anyways, go Canada!!

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

Game is at 1:30am so I'll be watching at home.

I didn't see any passion or character in Canada's play so far, but I am sure it will show up tonight.

Here's hoping it's a classic like '87 or '72 and not like '06.

Re: The (Ice) Hockey Thread

My predictions for tonight:

Swiss in upset OT victory over US. Score may be 1-0 with those hot goalies!

Czech cruise by Finland

Swedes over Slovak

Canada over Russia - Have to go with my heart on this one.

Go Kanada!

I very much doubt any bars will show it.

www.channelsurfing.net
www.myp2p.eu (you'll need to download Sopcast to watch the best feed, which is actually really good.)

They you're best bets if not on TV, which I doubt it will be

Of course it will be on TV!!!! I've been watching all the hockey through the local channels (SF, Eurosports, ORF, plus the German ones). If you don't have cable, then you can watch online through zattoo.com or through SF's live feed from their webpage.

All channels had the CAN-USA game on and surely they will all have this game on as it is a biggie!
