The American-Canadian rivalry is getting ugly and I'm looking forward to shutting those fans up. | | | | | Did not realize you play on the American team .
Doubt a police escort is needed in Vancouver. Only place I heard about a police escort was my friends in Philadelphia after a Leafs play-off victory.
Most people I talk to want the Americans to win so Canada has a chance of a rematch in the finals.
Guess we will see tomorrow!

Guess we will see tomorrow! | | | | | I do realize that I am rooting for the American team. But I don't think American fans in Salt Lake City were booing Canada in games before the gold medal final in games where the U.S. wasn't playing. That's why I'm grousing.
That being said, many objective AMERICAN fans say that the U.S. has little chance of beating Canada again if Canada plays as well as they did last night against the Russians. Then again, 30 years ago, the U.S. only had to play the Soviet Union once. There wasn't any playoffs---every team played everybody else, and the team with the best record won the gold. If the 1980 team merely clinched the top seed with that win, and THEN had to play again a week later....
So if the Americans beat Finland, they will have gotten farther than anybody expected them to, and what happens on Sunday is gravy. I'm hoping the Americans will win gold, but nothing can take away the first victory.

I like to think that Canadians fans never boo other teams. They're just rooting on the goalie with the Luuu cheer.
At least that's our cover up now.

BTW, congratulations to the Canadian women for a fine job in winning the gold medal yesterday! Also, congats to the U.S. women, too. Although they lost to Canada, they held a team that was scoring in double digits throughout the tournament to only two goals.

First thanks for the info on the hockey teams in the Zurich area! Great help. Went to watch a scrimmage the other night and I wonder if they remember it's a contact sport over here! In any case playing on the bigger ice surface should be fun.
So what's the prediction for tonight? Anybody want to wager a couple of beers. The guy to watch out for is Chara he has a monster shot! Otherwise should be a good game
Go Canada!

Chara---can't stand that giant, he's such a goon. Great player and all, but I still have images of the dance with McCabe burned in my head.
Even if Canada lose, I would be happy to see him brought down a few inches.

If there are any Slovaks in Switzerland reading this, please accept my apologies in advance, because I am going to assume you will lose to Switzerland. I look forward to Team U.S.A. playing Canada on Sunday for the gold medal. With the exception of 1972, the only times the U.S. has medalled in Olympic hockey has been on home soil. Vancouver may be close to the U.S., but it's not like the U.S. has been playing before the crowds of Lake Placid.
If the U.S. loses Sunday, it will still be a very successful Olympics for we Americans. But I refuse to concede beforehand because I still believe in miracles. |

No predictions, though. I'll let the guys on the ice do my talking for me.

can you catch a flight over to watch it with us?
