Re: give clothes in lausanne

Here's a few ideas:

-your local recycling depot, dechetterie
-a few times a year, a plastic bag will come in the mail with specified pickup day
-the Salvation Army will likely take it

You will find a few clothing bins outside the supermarkets. I know there is definitely one outside the main entrance of the Centre Commercial MMM in Crissier.

You have to have a special card to use the decheterrie, and you have to go to the specific one designated to your address. The cards are normally posted to you from the commune with maps and instructions.

And re those plastic bags they leave in your mailbox every once in a while to collect clothes, twice I have left them on the designated day and they have never been collected.

Re: how to give away/get rid of clothes in lausanne

I checked the website of your commune, Prilly, www.prilly.ch, a lot of good info there.

This link indicates the solution I think http://www.prilly.ch/pdf/DBG-REG-DECHETS.pdf It notes for usable textiles, the bags delivered by mail, as I indicated previously, and the place where they should be left.

This page also notes the intercommunal decheterie of Malley, where a bunch of stuff can be taken. No specific mention of textiles, but a lot of other stuff, so worth checking out perhaps.

You need the card for the Malley one. It is great for just about anything you need to get rid of (apart from the bodies of your annoying neighbours).

If you just turn up with your stuff they will often let you in though, even without the card. But they will tell you to get your card sorted out for next time. BTW, you need a car to get there. It is laid out as a drive-thru.
