I'm not sure if you're problem is Switzerland. It sounds more like an on-coming depression. Take care and be good to yourself. You sound as if you've put in a lot of energy these past years and may now need some time to recharge those low batteries.
Good warning. The onset of grey weather gives most of us the blues, but left to themselves they can turn into full-on depression.

It's not enough on its own, but putting on a wooly scarf every day and going for a fast walk in the fresh air and the available daylight will definitely help one not to sink lower. Autumn is a great time to feel the aliveness of the world.

Re: How long have you been here in Switzerland?

22 years, 26 days and 20 hours, I can't remember exactly what time I landed at Kloten.

Re: How long have you been here in Switzerland?

First arrival: early February 1983 in La Chaux-de-Fonds... ... Ice cold and 1m of snow everywhere in town.
Happily the job was in Bulle.
Then 3 years away starting '85 and back ever since '88...
The original job was to take only 3 months...

Re: How long have you been here in Switzerland?

First arrived in Geneva Feb 1985 to look over our project on the lac leman.

Came back 10 August 1985 to start it, and have stayed ever since.

Peak existential moment was arriving to la plage on the 11 August 1985!!!

6 months. Left Oz (Melbourne) and although missing the 'footy', am happily settled in Swiss. Now looking forward to the 1st fall of snow!

25 years. One-way ticket from San Francisco to Zurich in 1987. All my belongings fit into 3 cardboard boxes, and a cheap bike.

Umm, 2011-1987=24 years! (and in a post from last year, you state 23, or has the last year counted as two?)

Me, 25 and change (August '86), though I drove here from the airport in Brussels as it was the cheapest one-way flight.

However, I first came here in '82 for three months.

If you count 1987 and 2011, which is almost over, it comes to 25. But after so long, who really cares.

Re: How long have you been here in Switzerland?

Came here after the (in)famous Sandoz+Ciba merger in April 1997 - I worked for Sandoz in the UK and our site was closed.

Came here very reluctantly - didn't really want to but didn't want to lose my job either as I quite liked it at the time. Everyone told me what an opportunity it was. I was not convinced. I had actually never even been abroad on holiday before except for a school trip to Calais

I said I'd give it 6 months.

That was a lot of years, a marriage and two kids ago!

Re: How long have you been here in Switzerland?

I've been here since the 1st of September.

After my year abroad here is over, I'm seriously considering coming back once I've completed my studies.
