Shopping over the border form Zurich

Firstly, sorry if this has already been answered else where on EF but my searches only brought up travelling from other cities...

Here are my questions

I am wanting to travel over the boarder to get some baby items/food and clothes (i am looking for a vibrating baby chair that I cant find here) is there anywhere that I can go that would have all these types of shops in one place?
I dont mind travelling past the boarder for a bit but not hours into Germany.

Secondly do I have to declare the new items I buy - i.e a bouncing baby chair/food?

Tips and experiences appreciated, thanks

hi,

this link will maybe help you about the declaring:
http://www.ezv.admin.ch/zollinfo_pri...x.html?lang=de

and places in Germany where you can go shopping, I would say Laufenburg is a good place. I know there is a big baby store called BabyOne there and alot other shops where you can get clothes and food.

Singen is quite big too, there should be some good shops there.

Don´t know if you can get your chair there though.

Hope its helpfull

yes I have and Babyland and Pro baby, but they dont do simple ones just a fisher price waterfall one which has loads of bells/songs/stuff that Idont want and a Maclaren -but they are really expensive for what they are
so I thought I'd try Germany, the uk has them for £20! so just trying to find one for less than 150chf!

If you are looking for baby goods and going Germany way then I highly recommend this lady and her store.

We got some car seats from here that were about impossible to find in CH. She gave us a super price and also helped with a tax refund.

She stayed open late on Sat so we could get to her and spoke excellent English...

Located in Markdorf so not that far from the border too

She does also ship to CH but I think you can really save a bundle going in person

ps she has the Maclaren vibrating rocker which we got and swear by!

Max

There's a Baby Walz and Bübchen und Mädchen in Konstanz, both shops will provide the green customs forms.
Anything up to CHF 300 does not need to be declared but over that value you do need to pay the Swiss VAT of 7.6%. Still worth it, as you can claim the German VAT of 19% back from the shop the next time you're there.
