Re: Pigeon Problem!?!? Advice Welcome!!!

Could you hang a net in front of your balcony ?

One of these nets from a garden Center to cover fruit trees / strawberry plants etc. Seems to be an often used solution.

Doc.

Re: Pigeon Problem!?!? Advice Welcome!!!

I might be crazy but I miss the coo coo noise of the birds early in the morning back home. Nevertheless, I understand your concern and since you do not really want to hurt them have you thought of some kind of net to put around your balcony? At least temporarily so that they can not go in???
Good luck!

Re: Pigeon Problem!?!? Advice Welcome!!!

Oh!

In the idea of those CDs hung and flashing, they have those more decorative things that blow in the breeze. Apparently if they're bright or flashy, all the better... or if they're "noisy" such as wind chimes.

Quote:
Repellants. There are both visual and noise-making repellants that are available for discouraging these pesky intruders. Visual repellants include such things as bright, reflective lighting or predator replicas of snakes, hawks, or owls. Noisemakers can be as simple as employing wind chimes or bells around your home.

Re: Pigeon Problem!?!? Advice Welcome!!!

So today I made a trip into town and got the cat spray, and went outside to apply said cat spray. Well the pigeons are back, sitting there content and not moving an inch no matter how close I get. So I threw a piece of brocolli at them (it was close by...Im making dinner)

WELL....they both fly off. And what do I see...an EGG!!! Now I don't know what to do. Now there is an egg involved?!?! My first urge was to kick it off the balcony. But the guilt!

So what would you do? Kick the egg off? Spray the cat spray? or Just let them be?

Feed the alpha pigeon Avitrol, a mild hallucinogen. When it starts freaking out, it will scare off the rest of the flock.

Well its not a flock, it appears to be a mating pair. Its always the same 2 anyways.

So will you be suppling the Avitrol?? Because I feel uncomfortable going to the doc's and explaing what I need it for. My next post will be from a padded room at the Universitatespital.

Re: Pigeon Problem!?!? Advice Welcome!!!

If it's a pair hatching an egg, leave them be.

When you start feeling fed up, pour yourself a nice glass of the tipple of your choice, sit on the balcony and enjoy the antics of the baby chick...

...whilst planning how you will pigeon-proof your balcony next spring.

Fight it with pigeon power by getting a bigger pigeon! Notice in the video how other pigeons legged it with their shit between their tail.
