This is a great thread. Hilarious.

Both socks before shoes. In a restaurant can't stand to sit with my back to the room. Segregate items in grocery cart so that I can load heavy items at the bottom of bag or cart. Well, natch. Undies and bras must be folded all the same and lined up neatly in the underwear drawer. Must have 2 toothbrushes at all times - can't use the same one in the evening that I used in the morning. Have to wash my hands first thing when I get to work. Only eat ice cream directly from the shop and never bring it home from the grocery store because by the time you get home it has started to melt slightly. And then it would have to be tossed. And I avoid any food that has a certain texture. Especially foods eaten cold that tend to be just a bit slimy: oysters, sushi, dried sausage that's too moist, smoked salmon, cold custard, matjes herring, ceviche ...

yeah, I'm with LIB on this….don't know where to start tbh

I have to ALWAYS be covered over my ear when i sleep, no matter the season and how thick the covers are, otherwise i can't fall asleep.

When i am back from outside, i have to wash hands 3 times [London, always always always], but other places [like Switzerland] once OR twice, it really depends what i did and how long i've been outside.

Books on my shelves are ordered by height, if the shelf is full of 'em then highest from ends towards the shortest in the middle

My black clothing mostly has to be on the separate pile/side in my closet.

I like and tend to mix my coffee and milk to a specific colour tone.

I never wash hair and shower at the same time, unless there is no other option.

that's just the tip of the iceberg
Wow! I think I am finally healed from OCD.

I need to wash my hands very often. If I touch the keys when I check if the door is locked, I will wash them right after as I don't like the metal smell on my fingers.

I can not go to bed if I didn't floss my teeth. I make sure there are enough floss in the house so I never miss it.

Re: Weird habits

God, what a bunch of weirdos

Doesn't matter whether it's a stack of newspapers, biscuits, plates etc.. I never take the one on top

I have to go to sleep within 5 minutes of going for a wee, if I don't doze off in that time I will keep going back to the toilet.. Sometimes 4 or 5 times in a night

If I'm sleeping in someone's guest room and they have dolls, teddies etc.. I have to put them face down

Re: Weird habits

When I come home I wash my hands to remove the dirt I have picked up on bus and train handles, supermarket trolleys etc. Apart from that I think I am normal.

well that makes you perfectly normal, doesn't it?? O.o

or does it mean that people generally don't tend to wash hands [AT LEAST once!] right after they come home from outside [anywhere, even if they just went for a walk in the park for half an hour]?? *runs around the room screaming in panic*

When you've gone through wiping toddlers bums and picking up dog crap with a bag that may or may not have a hole in it (that's if you even have a bag), washing hands after the slightest thing, becomes automatic.

No, you are totally normal because that is absolutely normal.

Disappointed.

Washing hands is normal and logical ..... I even remove the coin that I've sucking, before I wash them, so that they don't become re-contaminated.

Re: Weird habits

I know someone who never washes her hands after using the lavatory!
Her ex husband told her she didn't need to as urine is sterile...

But then he committed suicide 20 years ago, he set fire to himself in a
forest. Now that is NOT normal behaviour at all!

Re: Weird habits

Well I wash my hands also very frequently, but especially after having touched handle bars. Now in Winter I fear getting a cold from another one who just coughed in his hands. They said to do so on TV. So, I try to avoid touching too many handle bars...

And I love chocolate... I need it on a daily basis! If I go in a course where they don't have sweets, deserts... then I get bad tempered!

Same here.
When I was very young, I went through an OCD period where I had to do everything with my both hands equally. If I opened the door with my right hand, I had to do it with my left hand too, etc. I used to count everything, put everything in a neat line, etc.

Re: Weird habits

OK, so my weird habit is, that I'm totally into pulling feathers out of my bed pillows. Every now and then, I'd check the seams if there's a few feather-ends poking through the pillow, and I'll go all effin' hyper about pulling them out... when I was a child I'd hide them between the end of the bed and the sideboard so that when mum came to pull the bed aside and hoover the in-between space, she'd go all "oh not again..." on me lol...

I have no idea why I have this, or how I even discovered it, but it's just really satisfying doing it. It gives me a tingly sensation when I see it.

My friend who (in a ridiculous way this came out one day during a random conversation with her) told me she's into the same, compared the satisfactory feeling to see a really ripe pimple she is just about to pop! Hahaha
