Neon Powerball (Gyroscope toy)

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these in Basel? It's my daughter's birthday on Sunday, and I'd like to get her one today or tomorrow.

Re: Neon Powerball (Gyroscope toy)

I'm trying to think where I saw one...

It's a toss up between M-Parc, Ochnersport and that posh sports one next to it on Freiestrasse - Kost sport.

Most likely of the three is Kostsport...

Ideal for sports like Golf, Tennis, Squash and all other activities demanding power in the arms, hands and wrists. Great for musicians too! Drummers, guitarists, pianists (in fact most musicians!) will benefit from the increased strength and dexterity that an NSD Powerball will give them!

OK, now I want one too!
NotAllThere, can you let me know if you manage to get your hands on one?

The one in Zürich?

If all else fails, I am going to resort to Amazon.co.uk!

It's a gyroscope encased in the ball. When you spin it, it exerts an almighty force on your arms. It was developed for sports injuries, RSI etc. It then became a craze and they put a clock counter on it to count how fast you could spin it.

They have some in Manor Zurich, near the Bahnhofstrasse. But it's only the basic version, no lights, no counter. The company clinic also has some for sale. I got mine from ricardo.ch, but it's a pre-owned item.

Re: Neon Powerball (Gyroscope toy)

Out of interest - should one really have two so that you can exercise both arms at the same time?

I'm kinda interested as I need to improve on my limp wrists...

Re: Neon Powerball (Gyroscope toy)

Pick it up on Amazon and let us know how well it works. I bought one a year ago and still can't get it to spin properly since the string never seems to be tight enough. Mega Frustration! But I will keep trying

I got mine at the Salvation Army, like new 8 bucks .

I don't use the string. If you watch some Youtube videos you'll see most people just flick the ball with a finger and get it going like that, but- they have the 'knack'. Takes a while to get the feel to increase the rpm of the gyro. When I was learning I would spin it up by running it across thin carpet on the floor; spun it up better than the string and gave me time to find the magic wrist movements. For some reason I'm much better with my left hand than my right, and I'm a righty. Just keep trying!

That has to be the most perverted sounding post I've ever made.
