Sporting goods stores near Basel in DE or FR reachable by public transportation

Where are they? There have got to be some but after untold hours of Googling, I've been unable to come up with any useful leads. Btw, the one at the Rhein Center was totally useless.

Help would be appreciated ASAP.

Thanks.

Re: Sporting goods stores near Basel in DE or FR reachable by public transportation

It depends on what sporting goods you are looking for..

Just a few off the top of my head...

In Basel:

Globus Marktplatz Basel
Athleticum over near M-Parc.
Oschner Sports at the SBB and probably somewhere else.
Kost on Freie strasse (and it does some what).
Many Velo places like Velo Plus on Leimenstrasse.
Transa (Outdoor stuff) on Aeschengraben and Velo transa on Missionsstrasse.
Running stuff shop in Allschwil (facing the tram terminus)
Bike place on Clarastasse

Many other independant bikes shops around (Muttenz gartenstrasse), but many dotted about.

Lorrach (DE)
Intersport on the main street
A bike shop (selling amongst others Specialized) on spitalstrasse (I think...) Plus other bike shops in Lorrach

There must be more than this...also don't know of any in France..

All can be reached by public transport and then 10 min walk max...

What kind of sports are you looking for - Greinwald Sport Extra on Hauptstrasse Lorrach Stetten has sport clothing for most sports from skiing to hiking and biking etc. There is also another I am not sure of the name on Basler strasse just as you are coming toweards the pedestrianised centre. Intersport has 2 shops in Lorrach a general store and one for footwear.

There is also an Intersport in Weil am Rhein on the main street. And there is a store in Lorrach that specializes in running/walking gear, and in the basement at Karstadt, there is quite a bit of sports related stuff.

As the other post asks what specifically are you looking for?

Re: Sporting goods stores near Basel in DE or FR reachable by public transportation

Thanks for the replies. The information will certainly be put to good use in the very near future.

I should have been more specific in my post. The reason I asked for stores in France or Germany is that the ones I've seen here are pretty pricey and also have a rather poor selection.

I'm not really looking for anything specific. Just general sports stuff, bikes, biking/hiking equipment etc. and at least a bit in the way of choice.

I find Sherpa quite reasonable for outdoor/hiking gear, and the sales are very good.

Behind the SBB, walk towards Media Markt and turn right on the street.

Re: Sporting goods stores near Basel in DE or FR reachable by public transportation

For France you have places like Decathlon that are really the best stores.

Look them up, there is one on the other side of Mulhouse in Wittenheim which is the Decathlon store I would recommend.
It appears bigger than the one in Mulhouse proper and there are also other sport goods stores(I think?) close by in the commercial area 2-3 minutes away by car.

There is a Go Sport shop in Illzach real close to Carrefour(shared parking area) where other people on the forum seem to go to for stocking up on food from time to time.

Re: Sporting goods stores near Basel in DE or FR reachable by public transportation

Hello All,

Resurrecting on old thread.

Went to Sportxx yesterday and got a pair of running tights (lower and upper body) and it costs 180 CHF. Wasn't expecting anything different . I want to get ready to bike, run and swim (indoor) in winter (preparing to compete in my first triathlon in June ). So want to get some gear, small things like nose plug to a big things like a potential swim suit. Costs might roll up to 700 CHF + if I end up doing it here.

Hence want to get some idea if there are few options in Germany near Basel. Perhaps the Interdiscount that was mentioned or something similar ?

Many Thanks
S

Intersport Weil Am Rhein http://www.intersport.de/intersport-...am-rhein/info/

There is another one in France, St. Louis, (Bus n. 4 every 15 min from Basel Schifflände if you need public transport) http://magasins.intersport.fr/fr_fr/...port/00747-000

Promotions and prices may vary between France and Germany.
