I was having a look through the referals in my logs last night and discovered that we are getting some referals from the wikipedia
page on Zurich.
Cool i thought - someone has added us to the page, so I went on over there to take a look. I mean we aren't exactly short of web traffic at the moment with traffic climbing steadily all the time. It was only 10 visitors from the wikipedia this month, but every little bit helps.
Strangely I couldn't find it. I guessed that someone must have added it, and then someone else must have taken it away. Why would someone do that? Surely the english forum is for everybody's benefit, and it runs on a non-commercial basis - why would someone want to remove it from the wikipedia page? Has it done harm to anyone?
Luckily the wikipedia tracks edit histories so I clicked on the
history link.
I noticed from the edit comments that someone had added the entry on Aug 3. I confirmed by looking at the edit
here.
But what else did I see? Well a user called sunsetexpress. Now that's very interesting - this person also uses the alias beautifulswitzerland and I'm sure many others. She's quite active in the expat scene, and the last I heard she went to work for general motors. I'm not going to say who it is because many of you know exactly who I am talking about already.
Anyway, I checked out her edit
here. Yep - plain as day - she deleted the link to englishforum and the link to the comedy club of Zurich (grudge perhaps?). There was no comment or explanation given for the deletions.
Could this be the same person I thought it was, or could it just be someone pretending to be her? Well I thought I'd look at her
contributions to see what else she had been up to. Oh - that's interesting - adding some information about the CEO of General Motors, and doing some cleanup on the entry for General motors. Surely this is just way too much of a coincidence?
Anyway, I'm not trying to sling any mud, just wondered what other people thought of this? Any wikipedians among you?
I do find it funny when people think they are anonymous on the internet and they get sprung.
Just to clarify a point: I'm referring to the global wikipedia, not the privately hosted (and significantly smaller) swisswiki.
Edit: Someone thought I was referring to Carmen - she has been an early supporter of the forum and I am most definitely not referring to her in this post!
