Well, I went out with one very religious girl for 2 years, and had a couple of dates with girls who were less religious but still enough to bring it into the conversation.
Oh well, there we are. A sample of three girls, and the other half billion or so Christian girls must, obviously, be complete religious fruitcakes too!

Glad we've got that settled.

Yes, because my opinion is only valid if ive dated every religious girl in the known hemisphere. Otherwise, you base an opinion on what experience you've had. Either way, it's hardly likely that a church group is full of non-religious girls looking for a non-religious man.

Ah... I finally get it: This club is for people who pretend to be foodies - because food is less touchy than religion - but actually just want to get laid?

I agree to be honest, I wouldnt feel at all comfortable in a church setting - have you sinned my child? - hmmm yes lots! Not for me like I said, but it might work for some other less sinful people than I
Well you are descended form Eve, the original and most evil of sinners. If only she hadn't of eaten that chuffing apple, bloody women never do as they're told...

Such a brat DB, going to extremes to try to make a point.

Even if someone isn't religious to the point of being a "fruitcake" the chances of finding someone who is religious enough for it to be an issue when one is not religious is heightened by meeting them at church, no?

Of course, some do enjoy lively "debates" so a pairing of one religious together with one non-religious may work out to their mutual enjoyment anyhow.

Re: Speed-dating - thoughts?

Quite a few years ago I had a summer romance with a Christian girl.

We were snogging and things were getting hotter and heavier . . .

. . . suddenly she broke off, as if something had suddenly occurred to her . . .

"Do you believe in the Devil?", she tremulously inquired.

Not as far as I know...

If you've kept track of what I've said though (I don't blame you if you haven't, after all, I don't track your posts either ), I said that you never know who you may meet at activities you enjoy who may know someone you could get to know better.

So, you enjoy cooking / eating / discussing food and dining and make friends with some folks from a group like The Grub Club. You (omg, the thought of it!!) socialize with some of them at other activities and maybe get introduced to someone you otherwise may never have met.

You start out with something in common... friendship with someone else with whom you both enjoy socializing. Piece of cake.

Gastro Gnome froze for an instant as he heard the question, eyes briefly lingering on the cross she wore around her neck with an intensity that went un-noticed. With a quick turn of the head to conceal the flash of crimson that glowed briefly in his dark, inky eyes, he smiled with what some would cound consider a sneer, and answered: "The Devil? Pure fantasy my dear, now lets see about unbuttoning that blouse shall we...?".

Tell her that just because people say you are horny:
a) Doesn't mean you are the devil
b) doesn't literally mean you have horns...

I think she was more worried by her own lust.

Water under the bridge now (this was twenty years ago). Plenty of fun though.

Worked for me!

(Mind, in the interests of full disclosure, I must confess that I did once go out with a girl who would ring her priest each morning to describe what we'd done the night before in order to find out if we'd committed a mortal sin or a mere venal sin... poor chap! He must have got through boxes and boxes of Kleenex!)

I was advised to join a church when I first moved here, and I, too, sneered at the suggestion. Just shows how much of a bigot I was, really.
i'm too vain for that anyway - i couldn't date a girl that loved god more than me

and too jealous too. i mean, i wouldn't like her to cry somebody else's name during an amorous tryst even if it is "oh, god!".

which reminds me:

so we covered what a religious orgasm sounds like, but what does a positive orgasm sound like? "oh, yes, oh, yes, oh, yes"
what does a negative orgasm sound like? "oh, no, oh, no, oh, no"
what does a fake orgasm sound like? "oh, derv, oh, derv, oh, derv"

A friend of mine took part in speed dating a few times and has raved about how much of a good time she had. So even if you don't meet anyone, it's a good laugh!

re: speed dating, i was told it was full of desperate, geeky, shy and commitmophobic people.
Uhm, what? Hahahaha.....I feel so bad, cmon, don't rub it in, what kind of moron would tell you that?

I was talking of a few folks I know who did rave about it but had certain hermit dispositions prior actually forcing themselves to come out and be with us, normals...A heureka moment, you know, "I can talk to chicks, there is nothing wrong with me..." Some need speed dating for that, some don't. But according to them, there are very many shy people who paricipate to get over some initial troubles. But that was a dif country, too.

Quote:
I wouldn't put money on that, you know.
It is true. I sang in a non religious choir, bunch of religious classical pieces with bunch of religious fellow singers in many churches and cathedrals. We all had fun and didn't feel like disputing god and religion all the time. Sometimes we did, it was lovely to exchange very different views. I wouldn't rule out church activities at all, in the past I found the crowd as likely to be interesting and date material as anywhere else. Sounds uncool, but whatever...

That sounds exactly like the type of people I would want to meet, shy people with troubles. Better than the hedonistic, egocentric type of "young professionals" mentioned before... basically a personification of "What would Switzerland be like if she was a girl"....
