Spray for crackly hi fi ?

I bought a vintage Yamaha amp through Ricardo.ch, it works great, except its got a crackly source-selector knob. I hunted high and low for special hi fi contact cleaner spray, with no success. No hi fi shop I visited carried it. Its called Deoxit. I tried to order it on Amazon.de, but was informed they don't deliver to Switzerland (land of the Cartel). I was advised by one shop to use WD 40, but have read online that that is not a good idea! Anyone know how to solve this probem?

Tubeampdoctor.com have it, and allow Swiss delivery addresses...Costly though, with delivery charges...

Re: Spray for crackly hi fi ?

Yes, because it's the cheapest :-). Otherwise they are virtually identical for what OP needs them.

Re: Spray for crackly hi fi ?

Mr S, who has a great collection of vintage hi -fi, tells me that whilst modern contact cleaner sprays can be very effective on older switch gear it can also dry out potentiometers and the like and you will need for this a cleaner with lubricant. Oddly enough although most people say not WD40 can be very effective for this job and on this type of gear will do no harm.
