And... this would be why *I* won't be a cleaning lady, particularly not for anyone from EF.
Not that I have anything against the job at all, rather more because I do have something against limiting the pool of potential English-speaking friends with some semblance of similar frame of reference to myself. (Moving around maybe a lot, being from US or other "formerly British colony"... etc etc)

me : but we PAY her to clean.

I've fallen into the 'cleaning before the cleaner arrives' for one good reason: we tidy the basic stuff, to free her up to do the "deep clean" (eg, thorough toilet clean, anti-calk for bathroom & kitchen, mopping floors). Would rather have her spend time on those distasteful jobs than waste them setting the bed ... but then, I see setting the bed as a waste of time anyway ... different discussion ...
