No, he is speaking only his maternity language, its not a reach vocabular but he knows how to tell something he wants. What is the procedure to start school there?(its not a problem if he is in special school) and what are the costs ,does the canton covers some therapy?

Re: Children with Learning disabilities

Hi Kejt,
as other on this forum have said, please make sure you do some proper research before coming out here with a child with more complex special needs. I am not a special education expert but as a education consultant, I have worked with families with ASD children moving to Switzerland. Many families found it very though to integrate their non-German speaking ASD child into local school, including special needs schools. As parent you will have a lot of interaction with schools and educators and should be able to communicate in German and have a good understanding of the support system, which might be very different from yours. In my experience, many ASD kids who had difficulties with social interaction anyway, really struggled in a foreign system with an unknown language.
