Kurz Gymi Exam centre

Hello,

Any criteria to decide which school to get the Kurz Gymi form? like Oerlikon or Rämibühl or Uster etc

All I know is exam paper is same, but still the form you get it is where you need to write the test and does that make any difference?

thanks
mdcp

Re: Kurz Gymi Exam centre

You can buy the application form from any school, it does not make a difference. You then need to use the PIN number on the form to go online to book in the for the exam at the school of your choice.

You book in for the exam at the school you want to go to. There are differences in which profiles and languages are offered. For example, at Wiedikon only the Music and Art profile is available for Kurzgymi and it's not possible to do a Maths/Science profile at Enge. Some schools have bilingual profiles.

If you book in for a school a long way from where you live and for an oversubscribed profile, you might be allocated at place at a closer school after you have passed the exam.

The details of all the schools and profiles can be found on the exam website:

Re: Kurz Gymi Exam centre

Now based on profiles both Oerlikon (kantoschule Zurich nord) and Raibul MNG are on same

Any of you had this situation and selected one over the other?

I have heard that Raemibul - students are mostly swiss locals and hence the level to maintain during Gymi is quite high.

Not sure how true is that and what additioa factors consider ?

Re: Kurz Gymi Exam centre

We have experience with Gymi Nord and Gymi Rämibühl:

Nord: huge school. loads of students, teachers did not know name of children-used numbers instead, no communication with parents, in 2016 at least 6 out of 24/26 students of every class failed trial period

Rämibühl: much better organised, not so many fail, BUT: most of students receive private lessons after school and during holidays and ALL moms I spoke to were homestay moms who prepared the children`s homework every day.

Re: Kurz Gymi Exam centre

Was this RG/LG or MNG? In MNG Ive never heard of parents being involved like that or kids getting extra tutoring...

In any case, MNG is a great school in our experience. But also very demanding academically.
