University of Geneva or University or Lausanne?

Which one is the better option for someone wishing to study bachelors of law (then possibly european or environmental law for masters) , regarding the following factors:
-cost of living
-job options after university
-internships
-multilingual / international environment
-public transport
-housing

Re: University of Geneva or University or Lausanne?

Geneva is more expensive -cost of living
No difference, both are good -job options after university
No difference, both are good -internships
No difference, both are good -multilingual / international environment
No difference, both are easy to get to -public transport
It's easier to find accommodation in Lausanne -housing

Kindly note that you must be fluent in French for both.

Good luck eliiza

University of Fribourg also enjoys a good reputation for law studies.
Cost of living in Fribourg substantially lower than Geneva or Lausanne.

Thank you for both of your answers!

At University of Fribourg can I get by with French only or German would be useful as well?

Fribourg is a bilingual canton so not being able to speak German during your legal studies will be quite difficult. Unless, you're willing on learning pretty intensively.

Seeing as you want to read Law, it's very important you take note of a few key points:

- Each canton has its own set of rules on how they allow people to enter the bar. As a result the procedural portion of the degree is unique to each canton. I would highly recommend you pick a canton you'd like to practice in.
- Geneva, Lausanne and Fribourg have a very similar first year in terms of content but each have their own specialisms as you progress. If you're interested in a more international approach to law, my experience has shown that Geneva is probably your better bet.

As an overall experience, I've studied at both institutions and I cannot say enough good things about UNIL (Lausanne). The campus is stunning, the facilities top-notch and the whole student experience superior to Geneva. My experience of UNIGE (Geneva) was sub-par. The lecture halls are out-dated and the feel of Unimail is really bad. Lausanne is also cheaper!
