School advice Geneva needed. Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADD.

Hello,
We have a 10 year old who is coming towards the end of Primaire education in state school in the Geneva region who has been diagnosed with ASD and ADD.

It is becoming clear to us as he gets older that while he can struggle and just about keep up in mainstream state education, he will not be able to reach his full potential there and so we are having to consider a private school where he might receive a bit more attention and where the atmosphere might suit him better.

A school that is used to dealing with kids with some learning difficulties and also one in which his options for further education are not yet narrowed down would be ideal.

The problem is that we have no idea how to start deciding between the various schools available.

Has anybody been in our situation who might be able to offer some advice?

Thanks in advance!

Are you in touch with 'All special kids' in Geneva? It's an English speaking organisation for parents of children with special educational needs. They should be able to point you in the right direction. https://allspecialkids.org

All the best!
Stefanie

OP - if you want to see outside of the GE canton, here are quite a few contacts: https://www.autisme.ch/autisme/autis...colarisation19

A friend teaches in Nyon (1st link) and says the kids are great and her colleagues too.

Ask them if you qualify for subsidies.
