Public school and Hort daily schedules ( Zürich )

What are the start times and finish times for schools and Hort in Zurich? / At what times do kids need to be in & at what times do they need to be picked up by parents ?

Re: Public school and Hort daily schedules ( Zürich )

It depends

What I've seen so far:
- Frühstunde (start at 7:30)
- Regular start: 8:15
- Finish at 12
- Post-lunch start at 13:30
- Finish at: +/- 15:15
- Finish at +/- 16:00
- Finish at +/- 17:00 (not in primary school)

Thanks ! What determines

- Finish at: +/- 15:15

VS

- Finish at +/- 16:00 ?

Is the school or schools finish at different times at different days ?

Different times at different days. Actually, most schools publish their schedules online. If you know which school and ideally which class the child will attend, you can check online.

Re: Public school and Hort daily schedules ( Zürich )

What grade are you looking at? in Zürich city, grade 1 and 2 only have 2 school afternoons a week with school finishing at 15:25. Then you would need afternoon Hort which you pay the same as when you need the full afternoon.

Some schools are starting the full day school model (example Aegerten) so this is worth researching as well.

On this page you see it, again for Zürich City.

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ssd/de/...te/kosten.html

The max coverage is 7 to 18 and maximal price for that is 76 CHF.

For older grades, typically children start coming home alone (say grade 4 up) after school, do their homework and play or go to classes until parents arrive.

Hort closes at 18 so you will have to pick up your child before that.

Indeed. In general if there are 2 working parents working "regular hours" jobs, you may want to take turns like one goes "early" and does 8-17 in the office and picks up the child and the other does 9-18 in the office and is home.until the child goes to school in the morning. This is how we and many of our friends did it. We live in an apartment budding and made friends with other families do that when there was the odd "both need to go early or stay late" we could ask a friendly neighbor to take the kids for breakfast or dinner.

Sometimes the teacher(s) at school know which children go where, and can introduce you to other parents who share breakfasts and suppers this way.

Iff at least one parent does not work full-time, there's also sometimes the option of sharing/swapping lunches, this way. You take in two children one day, and on another day your child goes to one of their homes for lunch, and on the other day to the other family.
