Well, now, I guess around 800,000 a year or so. What kind of baking do you do?

I'd expect a little more than they offer and I'd tell them that. But I'd not be too greedy.

Re: Private Banking

From Tuga to Tuga....

Have no idea how much you should earn in private banking, but.... considering the salary level back home, you might easily triple what you earn. Don't be to impressed by the offer they make you, and negotiate it. Take also in consideration that you will live in one of the 10 most expensive cities in the world.

Just for you to have an idea: while my mother bitterly complains on the 6€/hshe pays her cleanning lady, i am happy to pay 25CHF/h to mine.

Good luck!

Lucy

Re: Private Banking

The reason you haven't received many useful responses is that you haven't provided much information for people to help you with.

How senior is this position?
How many years experience do you have in private banking?
Are you in client acquisition?
Do you have private banking clients you can bring from Portugal?

Answers to these questions would give people a clearer idea of what you could be earning.

nksyoon is correct. Until then, you'll get replies from folk somewhat jaded having answered the same imprecise question once or twice before.

Re: Private Banking

private banking is not a position. Are you going to be a private BANKER ? if so, your income will probably depend on how much revenue you create + bonuses.

Almost all the previous messages are trying to tell you that is it almost impossible to answer your question. There are too many variables that are unknown.

I would be very surprised if you tripled your E40K salary. It is all depending on what the position is, what you will be doing, what is your experience, etc., etc., etc, etc.

But Lucy's point is a good one. Swiss company are getting a liking for hiring EU people who are happy to take lower salaries than locals because they are much higher than their local salaries. So, I'd be sure to do some investigating.

The purpose is for a position equivalent to 1 or 2 years experience.
I don't have any experience on Private Banking.
??
Maybe.

Re: Private Banking

client acquisition means you are the sales person who goes out and finds clients through social networking, introductions from friends or existing clients, etc.

You have only 1-2 years of experience? CHF80K. Maybe since it's with JP Morgan a bit more. But since you are being recruited from Portugal, I'd say a bit less.

Re: Private Banking

It depends - I know someone who was offered 150k with less than 2 years experience because she came from a hot private banking target market. Oh, she has a HSG (University of St.Gallen) degree as well.

Maybe Portuguese may be an advantage for acquiring/managing Brazilian clients?

Yes. In fact, there are often jobs being offered in Geneva for people who speak Portuguese to work as key account managers working with Brazil. They are not offering that kind of money. So, as we've all said, the answer to OP's question is: it depends.
