Re: Swiss working culture
My experience has been a mix. I find the Swiss very friendly and sociable, whether it's at lunchtime or even during the day. As far as working ethics, I'm still undecided. Having others take credit for your work is rampant here when compared to other cultures and companies where I have worked. Dishonest people are everywhere, I know, but I've encountered a lot more than I'd expect here. It's a lack of professionalism I find really disappointing. Also rampant are the middle-aged, married 'family' men you've maybe encountered once in the coffee room but who then send you emails inviting you for lunch. It's awkward.
But back to the friendly factor – this just continues to impress me. In every environment here, I find the Swiss to be courteous. I've lived in many countries and nowhere else do people greet you as much as they do here. =D
