Sorry, I have no understanding for your intentions...
(Btw, I am in the same situation as you - I'm Swiss, worked all my life in CH, and live now most of the time in UK due to my husband is there.
I've been unemployed for quite some time and been using up my savings, as I don't want to milk the British welfare system.)
Chapeau to you Lady! Some other people should take a leaf out of your book!

| | Re: RAV Do I qualify | Quote: | | | | | That.s great well done to you. All I want is a job I beleive if I register with RAV then perhaps I may get help finding a job. Never did I claim RAV in england always worked, prefer to be working as Im sure 90% would on here my profession is as a chef which I worked hard to qualify so hopefully I can find something if not will do anything else in work open to offers again no stupid answers sure my husband woudn,t like it | | | | | What kind of job are you looking for and do you speak the local language (I didn't check your location, but I'm guessing German as you wrote RAV). The RAV doesn't really have so many jobs. Mostly job that are low skilled or trades, at least that was my experience. They may have restaurant jobs but probably not a chef position. You could get sent to language classes which may or may not be useful to you as well as other training classes if you speak the language.
And as was said above, with the bilateral agreements if you qualify in your home country for unemployment you probably qualify here.
Anyway, it doesn't hurt! Go over & talk to them. You never know.

Hello all,
I am in a similar position.
I moved to Switzerland to be with my spouse who moved to Switzerland for work reasons. Obviously we couldn't live in separate countries.
I worked in the UK for 8 years before moving here.
I wondered have any of you had any joy claiming benefit from the RAV (Souler, Sally_S, Mgosia)?
I am actively looking for work but if I am able to receive some benefits this would help me until I find work.
Please drop me a line.
Many thanks.

If you have worked in the UK for 8 years then you are entitled to unemployment benefits in Switzerland. here is the form you need to fill out and send to the National Insurance Contributions Office. The address is on the form. I would also suggest ringing them (number on form) and see if you can get the form processed quicker as it takes up to 10 weeks. Also I would go to the RAV office and register now while you are waiting for the E301 form. The UK call the E301 a CA3916 form (same thing). I think though even being entitled to benefits you will only be entitled at the UK rate and not the Swiss rate i.e 70-80% salary as you haven't work at all in Switzerland.
Hope this helps, pm if you need more information. RAV Lausanne | This user would like to thank travnett for this useful post:

Interesting thread and I didn't know if you have worked in the UK you can claim when you come here. My wife has worked in the UK for about 4 years.
My wife has been here since Jan 2010 and had no joy in finding a job (she's will have worked about 5 months total actually). Does anyone think she might still be entitled to some RAV?

I wish I knew about this earlier!

| | Re: RAV Do I qualify | Quote: | | | | | Yes you qualify if you have paid into the system in the UK for at least 12 months as there are bilateral agreements between Switzerland and the EU for transfer of social security. You need to register a.s.a.p. (you are only entitled from the day that you register) with the RAV and get a E301 form from the UK stating the amounts you have paid into the UK system (search the forum for E301). | | | | | Quote: Hello all, I am in a similar position. Andy, welcome to the Forum. I see you are brand new here, so please read the thread completely and understand it before you write something. Do you have the E301, if not then you obviously need to get it. If you have it then off to the ORP and find out what they can offer you.

Short answer: no, you do not qualify for swiss unemployment benefits if you have never ever worked here.

V. | | | | | Like I told porsch in his post. She is not entitled to swiss unemployment benefit but she is entitled to UK unemployment benefit and she IS entitled to get that payment through the Swiss unemployment fund. Basically the swiss will pay her and they will claim it back form the uk, or the uk will transfer her entitlements to the swiss fund and they will be paid that way.

Travnett is right to some extent: if you are already getting benefits in another EU country, you may transfer them for up to 3 months while looking for a job in another country. This is done using a E303 form and you MUST apply for this before you leave the country.
Actually I have to correct my earlier remark: If you did not receive benefits before coming here and thus did not come here with an E303 you can only get swiss benefits if for ANY period of time you have paid into the system here. It is then calculated as 70% of the avarage wage you have made in the last 12 months in CH and your home country before. It could make sense thus to take any small part time job for a short period of time while you are looking for your dream job.
Of course, not everyone can do this as you do need a B-permit first...
Although now it seems that souler qualifies anyway although she never had a job here?
