Hey, the only car anyone ever needs is a Mini.
Sure. But we stopped buying things we really need in the 1960s when the one and only real mini was around (and not some poshed-up micro bmw for a ridiculous price). Since then you buy things you want. And that is most definitely not a Mini in my case... or any other heterosexual males'.

I resent the fact that a butcher makes 3850, while a baker makes 5313. I would say a butcher is generally more skillful (on the high street) as well as the work being dirtier and tougher. Poor buggers.

I see quite a few professions where the default is this option (Floristin, Pferdpflegerin, Modedesignerin etc). Nice to see that linguistic sexism is alive and well!
maybe because most florists ARE women etc. etc.

...and if they weren't before, calling a florist a "floristess" as standard will surely ensure the trade excludes men as much as possible.

Baker gets up at 3am every day he wants to produce bread.

What I resent is the fact that some of the hardest jobs with the worst conditions are the worst paid. My sister was a "Bereiter" and she worked more like 56 hours a week, with only one day off.

And yes, I really hope that this puts things in perspective for some of the spoilt people who think that anything below a hundred grand is impossible to live on. This is not Disneyland, you know.

not sure why people resent a butcher getting paid less than a baker, or someone getting paid low amounts for a job with long hours. unless these people are slaves, they can simply change jobs.

Although butcher gets less, somone still pockets the money given horrendous meat prices and loaf of bread costs only CHF2.

A Fussballer (Football player) at CHF 3500 p.m. suggested wage, with or without pre status!

ROTFL!

I wonder if Ronaldinho will be interested to move to CH?

I wouldn't mind a job as a 'funker' if the wage wasn't so low.

Because most of these jobs require some sort of apprenticeship. Not like in the States for example where I walked into a garage one day and asked for a job- "Do you have tools?" Yes "Start tomorrow." That would take like 6 years here!

nobody is going to hand a job to you on a plate. not really too much to expect that you'd either be qualified for the job or start from the bottom and learn.

Ever tried to satisfy a feminist? Its impossible!
In France they insist to be called "Mme. LE Procureur"

Well, last I checked, they don't give apprenticeships to people over 20.

I'm not particularly a feminist (well, not the militant type people usually think of when they hear the term - of course I want equality for women), it's just an observation on sexism in language (which exists in languages without gender-assigned nouns, too). I think it's a really interesting area.

somehow i doubt that the job your sister is currently doing is the only one she is capable of getting. all this talk of age and apprenticeships is just a smokescreen.

Well, it's the job she dreamt of since she was a small kid but she had to stop the three year apprenticeship she was doing because it was literally making her ill, she got so thin from the stress and was always in a foul mood. She now works in a pet shop but here salary is still below 4000 francs a month. Being dyslexic, not all jobs are open to her.
